This is what yahoo health said about taking ambien while pregnant:
"Zolpidem is in the FDA pregnancy category B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby. Do not take zolpidem without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

Zolpidem passes into breast milk and may affect a nursing baby. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby."

So, as long as your doctor is aware and says it's okay, take it. It would seem that it would possibly cause the normal side effects. Be safe. Good luck.

It may just be what you are looking for...sleep. I knew someone who took ambien while pregnant and it was the only way she could get sleep and the kids came out fine.

Sleep is so important that it may be more of a risk not to take it because of the problems that can arise form sleep deprivation. What does your doctor say?

I had to take ambien for about a month after a very traumatic event while I was pregnant. I slept like a log and don't even think I would have woken up for a fire. I think it's dangerous. Try Valerian instead.

Not known - but why even take the chance?

That baby will likely live 80-90 years - and why even risk any chance of birth defects??

Drink warmed skim milk instead, cut caffeine, read before bedtime.

I always say that pregancy is the one condition I "discriminate" against someone.

A healthy baby is a great payback for denying yourself comfort and convenience.

You will be a GREAT mom - start now by refusing to put Ambien in the veins of your child :))
