I tried Innova wet food because my chihuahua doesn't like to eat dry all day, but it's a bit too mushy (I thought it would be chunkier). So I'd prefer she just stick with dry food in general.

I was wondering about the size of the dog food, though. Sometimes I wonder if kibble is a bit too hard, though I know it helps clean the teeth. What does Innova dog food look like, and do you think it's ok for a chihuahua's tiny teeth?

Thanks : )

Innova makes a "small bites". When we went in for our last bag for our bigger dogs, I asked if they had anything for my little one, he only weighs 8 lbs, they gave me a bag of Innova small bites, he loved it, came in a yellow package, just waiting for him to finish his cuurent bag of food and than Im gonna switch him over. My baby has tiny teeth as well and he was fine with the small bites! Hope this helps you

Dry food cleaning teeth is a myth, if you take a look at the state of dogs and cats dental health that's easy to see.

Since even chi's can eat a raw diet, (raw meaty bones) the kibble shouldn't be a problem.

Some of Innova's kibble are small squares about dime size, some of its triangles maybe the size of a nickel.

why feed innova?some people think it is good but i dont really.its okay.i prefer canidae to it.canidae uses turkey meal instead of regular turkey.regular turkey is made 80% up of water.turkey mealis a more concentrated protein source with all the water drained.also potatoes arent good for dogs.canida eis much better for the dogs coat becuase it has way more linolic acid than innova+flax seed.they are both human grade but canidae is a lot better priced.a 5 lb bag of canidae is like $7 and something while innova is $12 to 13 for a 5 lb bag and uses better supplements.canidae has much better reviews than innova because it helps so many dogs amazingly and innova is too rich and gives loose stools.many people are dissapointed with it.innova does bussiness with menu foods.

well, you really answered your own question but not realized it yet. When you say you got a young dog then feed it puppy food. when your dog gets older then feed it adult food. Puppies need special nutrients that older dogs don't need as much so that is why they need separate food. For the yogurt it's not harmful- but talk to your vet before. When you're on the topic of food, try throwing in and ask what kind of vegetables you can mix in with your pup's food.

I have seen chis crunch through chicken necks and wings! They are a tough little dog and not as delicate as some owners like to think they are. All dogs need to have access to raw meaty bones regardless of their size - the only difference is the size of the bones.

If your dog does not like commercial food why not look into a raw diet.
