No, that's not likely. Many people here are staunchly Christian and have no interest in changing religions, and there are many who also are Islamophobic. Those who are not religious are not likely to become religious; atheism is growing faster than Islam.

Why should you be worried, though? I'm worried about the erosion between church and state right now, and that's with the majority religion (christianity) so maybe a move to islam would smooth things out.

I don't expect it will. I think we will see a certain percentage of the population that is Muslim, but it will never become a dominant religion.

We would do well to learn to accept a Muslim population. We can do the world a great service by continuing to be a nation where people are free to worship as they please without fear of being molested.

I think Muslims who are free to worship will come to accept the notion that other people should be equally free to worship as they wish. Not all will feel this way, but many will, and we can live together peacefully. Muslims have greater freedoms in the USA than they do in most Muslim countries. Go figure.

Some Muslims claim the entire world will be Muslim by the year 2050. I'm not making that up. They take exaggerated growth and "conversion" rates, and project their figures without taking into account that the total number of adherent to other religions are growing also.

For example, see a few answers above mine:

"the Americans that do convert to Islam each year (around
300 000 of them)"

That's called LYING WITH STATISTICS, and it's being used to glorify a hijacked religion. Lying is OK, as long as it promotes your religion I guess. Intellectualy dishonesty seems to be the weapon of choice these days.

In all fairness, here's an honest Islamic website which admits there is rampant exaggeration, and gives realistic stats such as

"In North America, Islam has grown 1.56% each year, compared to 0.81% for Christianity; but just as in Europe, the overall Muslim population in the US is small and due mainly to recent immigration. Also, in the US there are many other religious groups growing at much faster rates than Islam, such as Buddhism and Baha'i and Mormons"

Christianity and Islam are VERY similar. They both believe in Jesus, they both have the same moral stance on most issues.

The people you're worried about are extremists. And they are just the same as Christian extremists, except to you they probably have funny dress.

What's the difference in a person blowing up a building for Allah, and blowing up a building for Jesus? (As in, abortion clinics).

I don't mean to be rude.. but you sicken me.
How dare you catergorise everyone "Muslim" into terrorism, or any other offence.
It's people like you who bring down the moral fibre of the world.
Doesn't it say in the constitution that everyone should have the right to free religion? Pretty sure that's a vital point.

So don't you dare talk about people like that. They are no different from you (except that most of them aren't racist, and actually HAVE morals). You've just shown me you don't have any.

And while there are still people like you in America, who probably vote for Bush, you don't have worry about the Muslims. Because awful people like you will keep them out.
So don't worry your pretty little head.

By the way, I'm Christian. Not Muslim. So don't think I'm one sided in this matter. I've done the research, I've seen the people, I know them. And they are exactly like me.

The "USA" is does not have an official religion, so there is nothing to convert from.

Individual citizens have always had the right to convert to any religion they choose.

But the USA doesn't have a religion.

VERY doubtful. There are too many people from too may different religions here to bend to the will of one ideal.

That is the point of America.

There's nothing for the USA to "convert" to. You must be confused, poor thing.

The country can't, but the population may very well. Islam is a genuine threat to the world .It is not a tolerant religion. Not tolerant of women's rights or other religious beliefs. They have always felt the end justifies the means. Regardless of what they say they will stop at nothing. Even to the point of condoning women and children strapping bombs to themselves to achieve their goals.

Whatever, Osama is a nut job. we get it. And btw the Americans that do convert to Islam each year (around
300 000 of them) didn't need Osama to tell them to do it. Religion is a personal choice.
