I have a female staff who is having a relationship with a male staff in my office. She is also having affairs with two more guys within the company without my male staff knowing it. The problem is she is creating intrigues among the staff in my office making them uncomfortable with one another. My staff are doing great in their job but the interpersonal relationship is being sacrificed. When we discovered this, she went on sick leave for two weeks. After 2 weeks she is still requesting for another week of sick leave with a medical certificate from her aunt doctor. this is personal in nature, do i have to step in even this is not official in nature?

inter-office relationship is really a big problem... if she's ur subordinate.. try talking to her about the things that going on in the office... try to reason out with her that its not healthy specially if rumors will explode... actually this is really an issue and u have to fix this... u don't have to fire her or send her to another department.. just talk to her and explain everything...

yes. it sucks, but yes. Because what and/or who she's doing in her personal time is going to effect the office then yes. Her calling out sick for (now the 3rd) week is not professional. Because she is not doing her own work it is being either put on hold or passed to another person who has their own work load. This is not good and eventually someone will get screwed, who isn't already dating her.

You can't be authoritive if you are not her superior, but if you are simply a co-worker then you can to her friendly.

Go straight to your company's Human Resource department and discuss the situation with the HR manager. The HR manager will give you the best options on how to deal with the issue legally in order to prevent an employment lawsuit from her.

You should check with the labor board or some other official to see what your rights are as a boss. If you need to let her go, you better make sure you will not be sued severely for doing so.

Step in how..? Are you her boss or supervisor..? Do you want to step in and help her not lose her job..?

I find it unethical for her aunt who is a doctor to write her a note keeping her from working if there is nothing medically wrong with her.
