Since joining this forum, my eyes have been opened to how people really see the Christian faith. It'a a painful revelation.

Someone suggested that we collectively make up the God energy - that which powers this existence, no matter what you call it. That idea has really stuck with me and I find it fascinating. The idea that we as a group exist merely because we wish to (maybe that is why the world is round - so a percentage of us is awake in the sunlight and keeping it going through belief, focus and intention).
It's nice to see the different religions represented here and it's interesting the faces they show the rest of the world. I still believe that the world is populated with people who are basically good, just like me, trying to do the best they can with the tools and ideas they know. Religion is a tool we use to help us overcome in this existence - and there are many beautiful ones (most I will never understand fully). It's a rich and beautiful tapestry and it's nice to see it play out in R&S.
Peace!

I actually started out in the Politics and Government forum and out of curiosity I would check out a few questions from R&S to get a view on the thoughts of others regarding religious issues. The greatest revelation I have discovered is the number of Atheists on this site seeking to both discover God and run from him in the same breath. I hope a few of them will awaken and see the beauty and truth of the Gospel.

I am relatively new here, since mid-July, but I wanted to answer this because joining R&S has helped me to feel that I am not alone. I live in a small town deep in the Bible Belt, and I am a bit introverted, so finding people with whom I can discuss spiritual issues has been difficult for me. R&S changed all that. In fact, we are communicating in spirit, since most of us never meet.
Also, I never considered myself to be extremely open-minded, maybe moderately so, but since I have encountered a fair amount of religion bashing here, I find myself defending everyone's right to believe and practice what they want, no exceptions.

Yes...I believe In God Almighty more than ever and know that He created ALL things. It has made me think that I need to get on with what He has called me to do. With a devoted Heart & Mind. It has also made me more aware that Jesus Is coming SOON. Because some of the answers I'm seeing coincide with what the Bible referrs to about the last days.

Not so much just one answer, but the overall outlook of a number of the Heathen, Pagan, Gnostic and Wiccan contributors. Their offerings and insights have opened my eyes to the depth of healthy wisdom in their practices and understandings that I was previously not very familiar with.
Also, the teachings a number of Tantric and Kundalini practitioners. The power of persons who speak from direct experience and practice, and not just theory or philosophy -- it's a remarkable treasure.
I'm a religious scholar and long-time practitioner of contemplative/ meditative traditions, but I did not have much first-hand knowledge of those currents. I have benefited greatly from both things they have said here and from friendships in real life that have grown out of our discussions here.
I also regularly benefit from my fellow "cosmics" on the board. Their posts are poetry to me.

It wasn't a question or answer but some of the people. Many have shown me how angry the world can be, and others have shown me how wonderful God really is. I have met many wonderful Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc... here, and some truly bitter people as well.
The biggest impact on me was made by a dear friend I actually met here. She knows who she is. Thanks, Sister.

Those two above have had the most impact on me. I have learned some things, and been given food for thought. My faith has been strengthened, although, at times I have been forced to question it
