I want to buy my dad a Llewellin Setter puppy for christmas... It's a pure bread, so I'm expecting that the prices run relatively high... but can anyone advise how much they generally cost..(purchased as a pup)?

Also, how would I go about buying one? Where can I find a seller?

Thanks in advance!

Where do you live? Here's the link to a breeder in Arkansas. It may give you an idea of how much the pupppies cost ( this guy's prices are reasonable.) They're lovely dogs.

Here's another in California.

I have no idea what they cost? You should be able to find a breeder by checking on the AKC site. Good luck, they aren't a common setter so the prices may be way up there. Are you looking for hunting stock or show stock? That can make a difference on the price but it may also make a difference on the looks of the dog.

Since most people who breed them do so for hunting they can range from $200-$2,000 or so. They do end up in shelters and rescues so consider a rescued dog if it is not going to be a hunting dog, and some rescues have hunters as well. We had one in our local shelter a few yrs ago and of course it was listed a an english setter mix but I sent the info on to a rescue and it was placed in a good home. They are active beasties so your Dad better like long walks in the woods.

I don't know where you are located, but I'm good friends with a breeder who has had Llewellen's for 30+ years and he only charges $200. They aren't a 'high demand' breed and easy to whelp and raise, so the price is quite reasonable.
