I want to be able to be more natural in conversation, because I'm always tense and I have to think over my words three times to make sure I won't offend anyone. I'm always worried about what people who don't even notice me will think of me, I'm extremely tense ALL the time, I can't even have a normal conversation with my friends anymore because I have to think and think over what I'm about to say.

I'm overtly analytical, and while sometimes this is a good trait, it's getting in the way of even speaking sometimes. I don't trust anyone at face value and I'm continuously worried over little things that will never happen.

I think WAY too much about things that might happen and it stops me from being spontaneous or, well, fun.

I want to be more comfortable, relaxed in public, when speaking, even when I'm just thinking. Is there any way?

Realize that everyone makes mistakes and stop being so afraid of offending people. As long as you are quick with a sincere apology if you do say something out of turn, most people worth knowing will forgive you. Unless you are the president of a country etc. I would not think quite so much before I spoke. People are more likely to think you are not interested in conversation with them if it takes you a min. literally to think before every sentence or response to them.

Look into Lao Tzu and Taoism. That may be good for you. Studying the Tao can be very relaxing, and can help you relax even in a tight situation.

honestly it may just be your personality - some people are just like that - it probably isn't that anything is wrong with you at all. you sound a lot like me. I'm tense around people I don't know also, but once I get to know people I'm fine.

there is a relaxation tape available online at

when you go to deeply relaxed state, reprogram your mind to work in a way that you like.
