I have taken in 2 dogs. They are both female and both pugs. They have been together forever but they have been really depressed since I've brought them home. They don't want to eat, they don't want to play, they only want to lay around and sleep. How long until they are acting normal? I know they miss their family. Do they make doggie paxil??? (J/K)

Bless you for taking in 2 needy pets. They are probably missing their family unit. Dogs are very resilient & it will take a few days or so to have them feel comfortable in their new surroundings. Offer them food if they want or just keep a bowl out. They will eat when they get hungry enough. Just try to give them your attention & patience & they will come around.

I've brought home several dogs & each one has adjusted differently. The only sure way I found to help them get over the changes is to take them on short walks. They learn the area & get used to the new smells, sounds & people. It doesn't take very long for them to learn the new routines.
And, yes, they make puppy prozac but if you give them a little time, they should adjust.

So why did they have to leave their family? I'm sure with a little time and LOTS of love and attention they will be just fine. They are in new surroundings and not quite sure what is happening. they will be ok.

Well maybe you can take them in to see your local vet and see if there is something wrong and if there is something they can take. Before you do that maybe you might want to take them out for walks and see if that helps.

Maybe they're just adjusting slowly.
