Matthew Chapter 6, "jesus' discusses prayer. Basically, a person is ONLY to offer up the Lord's Prayer, which is really just a prayer of acceptence.
EXO 4:11 The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD ?

Romans 12:2 "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
It will take practice. The more you study, go to church, listen to tapes, and quote the Word, the more your mind will become renewed. If you think something ugly, tell your brain to shut up and thank the Lord that you have power over your own thoughts. Good luck and God Bless.

Phillippians 4:8 says. "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely of good report; if there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things." Also, read first Corinthians 2:7-16. This speaks about having the mind of Christ. Finally, first Thessalonians 5:17 says, "Pray without ceasing." There is NO wrong way to pray (unless your motives are impure). If your desire is to please Him, His Spirit will guide you to what needs to be prayed. Have a wonderful day. <*)))><

I think so. To pray for greater understanding of His word as you read is common. To pray over your mind as you are making life changing choices such as jobs or having a heavy discussion with your spouse is a great way to begin the process. Ask for God to give you the right words to speak if He wants this to take place.
Your church is absolutrly right.

YES, do so. pray over your mind and thought-life daily! the more you think on God, the less you will think to sin. You will still sin, but you will see God in more things.
I Corinthians 2:16 - "For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ."
Philipians 4:7 - "And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
I Peter 1:13 - "[ Be Holy ] Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed."
the battle of the mind wages on daily. the mind is where temptation, doubts, and fears begin ...pray for strenght of the mind. pray for thoughts like Christ.

That's actually a grand idea!
When we pray, we are aligning our free will to GOD's perfect will. So to pray over our mind would be a lot closer to what's
going on, then to pray for a new car and a new TV set.

Pray over your mind and think "God thoughts", to me, means pray over your mind to think the right way, which "God" intends you to think. Make the right decisions and think rightfully unto "God".

That doesn't sound Biblical. God says in the Bible that His thoughts are above our thoughts. There is no way we can think like God. I can't believe a church actually thinks we can. Hmmmmm
