When there's no way you can do anything about them, and you see the person all the time?

You do not acknowledge them when they come up, and it will wither.

However, they will never fully die. it remains, like a scar

Well you can't if you really like this person then theres no way of getting rid of the feelings over time they will go away... but for the mean time try talking to them and see if you can get them to like you back or find out if they like you then you wouldn't want to get rid of the feelings also.... Try likeing someone who likes you then it might help get rid of what you feel for them

I wish I knew the answer to this question! All that I can do is say that you should try and focus on someone else. Perhaps it's not very mature and only gets you stuck into another impossible situation, but at least it's a change.

Be hard on yourself - if you want to get rid of these feelings, I assume you decided the relationship is impossible. Tell yourself that over and over, never forget it. Don't deceive yourself, it only makes things more painful for you.

Best thing to do probably is focus on something else: your studies, your career, take up a new hobby, revive an old one. Keep yourself busy and focus on the cold hard facts.

I do hope you'll be alright :)

If someone is not interested in you, you must pick yourself up and move on. Do not bring yourself down, no one is worthy of you if they reject you for some reason or other. This is definitely not a good situation and you must not let this continue. All through life we will come across situations that will hurt us or make us sad. Nobody can make you sad or feel bad about yourself.. only you have control over yourself and what happens to you. Get going.. love, live and be happy. Someone else is for you down the road, so don't waste time on someone you can't do anything about. God has a plan for you... don't look back only ahead.

Focus your attention on other things. You do have control over your mind. It will take awhile to do this, but it will work. When you see this person, pay attention to any interactions you need to but don't dwell on irrelevant things.

So if it's a person you see at work, just do the work you need to do. Then move on and think about the rest of your work. Don't think about--his smile, her hair, his cute looks, her kind behavior.....just re-focus on: work!

Or if it's a person you see in your family or social group, focus on being polite and appropriately social/friendly, but beyond that don't dwell on ...all that stuff I said above...just re-focus on other things in your life.

Whenever your thoughts stray to this inappropriate person, just tell yourself "That's not allowed. Now think about...who's running for president, when to do the laundry, how many bills you have to pay, when you can retire, how you will redesign your garden, what you will get your sister for Christmas, what to cook for dinner, taking a vacation to Tahiti, buying a condo, how you'd decorate your dream house.....
You can do this. It takes practice and it will probably take you awhile. At first you might not notice right away that your thoughts have strayed into the forbidden territory. Just re-focus yourself when you wake up and realize it. And your thoughts might stray again very quickly. Just repeat the re-focus. It will change if you make it change. You have all the power to do this, you only have to use it.

It is always hard to stop having feeling for someone you like. Especially if you see them all the time. Just try to move on because there is someone else out there that is alot better.

You can't ever forget your feelings but you can place them in a section or shelf in your mind in such a way like they've been stored away as a memory.

Its called basically getting on with new things in your life.
You just have to make new friends as you can't avoid your past. Do more things to take your mind into different places.

Honestly, the only way is to move out of town. You can run from your problems, if you are over 18. Try to avoid the places he/she hangs out. Some loves stay in your heart forever (even if you are not doing it).

You can't "get rid" of them, you have to let them fade; and they will if you concentrate on your life and where you're going and obsess about yourself for a change.

Try to ignore them, don't look at them, talk to them, try to take different routes than them when getting to the same class in school (if you're still in school), and don't think about them. It works, trust me.
