If I may ask, devoted to what? There are far to many Christians devoted to showy praise and worship, and precious few devoted to building up the kingdom of heaven by feeding the hungry, visiting the imprisoned, or demanding justice for the poor and oppressed.

When a person becomes a christian, the FIRST thing is that become a SINNER, whether they have done anything bad or not. Hheheee they need to be a sinner so they can be 'saved'.

In the OT world, sinning was a major deal. Since the person was not only doing something BAD, they were also LYING to their god(s). Back in the day, people would actually VOW to their god(s) to uphold every tenent within their covanent with their god(s).

One reason that the translational term sinner is also interchangeable with the term HYPOCRITE. There wasn't anything more vile than a sinner. If a sinner was willing to LIE and DEFY their OWN god(s), truth was NOTHING was sacred to them.

Within the Christian philosophy, they don't have to devote. Since in their view all the ickie things that they do do are cleaned up by their 'bloody lamb.' They really don't have to do 'good' things either, cuz they use the justification that they are 'saved sinners'.

This philosophy was tried before. You can read the OT books of Hosea and Habakuk. We learn of the 'sons of ephraim'--the Canaanites, venerated a stick of wood, offered up human sacrifice upon high places--like MT Calvary, used human sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin, and relished in their sin, just as Christians do, and were CONDEMNED for such abominations.

Hab 2:16 the cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.

Pretty much every Christian tenent is listed within the OT scriptures as an abomination to god. Hhehee one of the reasons Paul said people didn't have to follow the old laws any longer.

Hosea 13:2 Human Sacrifice as a sin offering---ABOMINATION

Jeremiah 32:35 Offering up such sacrifice on HIGH PLaces, like Mt. Calvary--- ABOMINATION

Leviticus 7:22/ Hos 7:14/ Hos 8:13 Communion---ABOMINATION

Deut 13/ Matt 23:15 Converting People--ABOMINAITON

because the path to get to heaven is hard and very narrow. It takes effort to be a good christian especially in a world like today's where it is very easy to get distracted and fall for the evil. Also, satan likes to pick on christians who are really devoted. Think about the story of JOb, he looses everything because he believed in GOd. Satan made him poor and took all the happiness away. This happens to all the devoted chritians, satan tests their faith. And it takes a lot of praying, sacrifice, willpower and courage to overcome the test that satan puts before us. that is why there isn't a lot of devoted christians out there, because they all fail the test miserably.

Because really devoted Christians are known by a lot of names around here....and none of them are as generous as your description here. In fact, "really devoted Christians" seems like a euphemism in comparison, to, I don't know:
Fundamentalist
Fanatic
Zealot
Fascist

For the same reason there are very few really devoted people of ANY religion.

There aren't many people who can so fully commit themselves to delusion.

* like the seed that fell on stony ground, it didnt take root & the cares of this world choked out the word, & they did not grow.

people don't give God priority in their life. The cares of this world, have them bogged down ...their new homes ,their cars , their fancy boats, etc.

Getting to work everyday. Their jobs.

They are just blinded by the cares of the world, i believe.

Some children are taught what to think, not how to think!

It's the same story that all the Prophets of God brought to mankind: "Believe in God, don't pretend to believe in God, for it's the pretending that gets man into so much trouble."

Because Christians are being fooled to break G-d's commandments.

I don't know one that obeys the 4th commandment.

Deuteronomy 28 says that they will be blessed and willing to serve IF they obey the commands.

And they do not.

So, your answer is because the Bible is right...again.
