Do you still consider yourself to be a christian, or are you considered an Atheist? Which and why?

Loyal One..Is it Christian to call people names and pass judgement? Is that what they teach you in the Kingdom Halls....You do not know a thing about me...

I've been out about four years. I don't call myself anything... I spent too long with a label. Today's my birthday... my fifth that I can celebrate since I became an adult. I make a point of it.

Additional:
Regardless of what we choose to be when we get out, it is OUR CHOICE.

Some move quickly to another religion. Others decide not to. Personally, I am glad to have the freedom to walk into another church if I want to without fearing I'll be struck by lightning. And I have the freedom to learn about non-Christian belief systems and judge for myself whether there is good in them. I can exercise my RIGHT to believe in no gods, one or many.

But what I like best is that I have the right to be comfortable with the concept that I don't need to personally resolve all of the questions of the universe before I die. I can have the contentment of allowing myself to just be.

I was raised as one, never baptised but that was due to opposition from my father, not because I didn't want to. I 100% considered myself one of them.
Most of my child was spent in an isolated area, no association with others except at the meetings, so I no idea of the world outside of all the Jehovah's Wittness environment. I was home schooled for 10 years.
Then when I was 16 my father had to go on the run, so we moved. I went to a public school and was baraged by new ideas and ways of thinking,
I thinked deep down I'd always doubted...not just the JW beliefs but God also. I went along with it because I was alone, lost and damaged. If I rejected it, my family would have reject me and all I had was my judgemental family. When I started to see how narrowed minded the ideals I'd been raised on were, I turned my back on it...secretly...if I'd come straight out about it the backlash from JW family members would have been unbearable. I met my fiance and he helped me leave home.
He understood what I was going through because he had been raised as a JW too. I owe him so much for his patience and love.
I'm now an atheist. I simply have no belief in God.

Ps...I'd star it but my javascript is all goofed and won't let me.

I was in for 18 years, and have been out for 10. I tend to shy away from religious "labels" or organized religion in general, but I can say that I have the deepest and most meaningful personal relationship with God now, than I ever had as a JW. It is certainly NOT a coincidence that my life has been abundantly blessed with love, happiness and prosperity for the past 10 years.

In 22 years...Out 24 years..Saved 7 years..Re-baptized 2 years...As Carol so wonderfully puts it..So glad to have escaped.

Ok...I will say it..the Christian religion i am in now gives me more hope and fulfillment than any JW counter fit cult that I thought I was worshiping
God in...I have a better, deeper more accurate understanding of the scriptures than I ever had as a fake christian...
When you finally worship god in spirit and TRUTH, there is absolutely no comparison to the fake works based theology of the counter fit Religion like the JW's....Nuff Said

God was.
God is.
God will always be.

Deep down in most every human this is known.

We may loose the Way for a while because of deep hurt but we return to God if we belong to God.

I think that the "organization" hurts some very deeply and it may take quite awhile to heal from it.

May peace and joy come to you as God wills it. -C

Loyal One is brave. He (or she) is defending Jehovah God and Jesus. His heart is in the right place, no need to criticize him for he's stance to protect his faith and the God he dearly loves and respect. A sheep among wolves is dangerous but the Holy Spirit is there to protect the innocent.
I want to share this scripture with you that is now in my "special notebook". I read this scripture and I think of this often and this is the right place to quote it. This is Jesus speaking; listen to what Jesus is saying here:

Matthew 10:16 "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves."
This scripture amazes me and I think of this one often. Really!

"Behold I am coming soon. Yes, I am coming soon."
Yes, Lord Jesus come quickly." Amen & Amen.

I have made many mistakes in life but being a Jehovah Witness was not one of them.

You are such a coward. You block Witnesses from answering your question. I guess I slipped thru the cracks on this one, huh? What are you afraid of? The truth? Does it bring you comfort to read of those who left the light of truth and went back to the vomit of the world...like Unsilenced Lamb?

Take a look at the words of Unsilenced Lamb. She says: "The Christian religion I am in now gives me more hope and fulfillment than any JW counter fit cult that I thought I was worshiping God in. I have a better, deeper more accurate understanding of the scriptures than I ever had as a fake christian. When you finally worship god in spirit and TRUTH..."

First of all, did you notice that she did not say what religion she is a part of? (She claims to worship at a Baptist church, although she says she is NOT Baptist) If she now has an accurate understanding of the Bibe and is worshiping God with truth now, why is she part of an organization that celebrates pagan holidays like Christmas and Easter and Halloween? She knows that the people she fellowships with venerate the cross, which is a pagan symbol that predates Christianity by thousands of years. She knows that in her current religion that nominal Christians go to war and kill their fellowman, in violation of Jesus' message of love. John 10:34, 35. She knows full well she isn't a Christian, in spite of what she said.

To this date, I have yet to hear ex-witnesses say that the next religion they joined taught them more than what they learned as Jehovah's Witnesses. Instead, they say stupid things like: "Glad to have escaped." Yeah? To what? Paganism? Atheism? Pitiful.

You say I don't know a thing about you? Don't be so sure. I know who you are by what YOU reveal to me. Your user name (nick name) is disrespectful. You are an ex-witness and you are a coward. Why else would you block Jehovah's Witnesses from responding to your question? You are afraid they will stand up to you like I'm doing now. When you posted your question, you expected a cheering section of all ex-witnesses who could pat you on the back for your disloyalty to Jehovah, Jesus and to your ex-brothers and sisters. Too bad I spoiled your party.

I noticed you did not comment on former witnesses going back to religions that practice paganism and promote warfare. No! You got offended by my calling you a coward. I suggest you get your priorities in order before it's too late. Quit this foolishness of wanting to surround yourself with those who turned their backs on Jehovah. It's not too late to return to the true Christian congregation.

LOOK at the comments you've gotten so far. How many of those responders, after leaving the truth, told you specifically what they learned in their current church that proved to be superior to what they learned as Jehovah's Witnesses? NOBODY! Characters like Unsilenced Lamb are tickled pink to answer questions like yours so they can vent hatred for God's true people. You made her day! Can't you see that?

BTW, is it Christian to call names? YES! Jesus did it. Consider:

When he caught sight of many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to the baptism, he said to them: “Yo offspring of vipers, who has intimated to you to flee from the coming wrath? Matt. 3:7

"Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw from your brother’s eye." Matt. 7:5

And he said to them: “Go and tell that fox [Herod], ‘Look! I am casting out demons and accomplishing healing today and tomorrow, and the third day I shall be finished." Luke 13:32

Get your act together before Jehovah views your actions as outright apostasy, thus leading to committing the unforgivable sin. It's up to you.
