regarding controlling the pain. I use to take OxyContin and Dilaudid daily. However, after getting off of the medicine, I really do not want to begin taking OxyContin again, because of the dependence it causes on your body.
My Doctor recently prescribed Opana, but I was allergic to that. Meds like darvocet and percocet and lortab have absolutely no effect on me.
I have also had a spinal cord simulator implanted only to have it removed a year latter as I helped none.
Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. There are days that I am ok (pain scale 5), however other days like today, I am in a level (9.5) and am getting no relief.
I can't go to the hospital every single time this happens for IV Dilaudid, so I am hoping for help from anyone who has this experience.
Thank you in advance.

Sorry, I had brain surgery for an Arnold Chiari Malformation 5 years ago. They removed the back of my skull, replaced it with a mesh patch, most of C1 and 1/2 of C/2. Then, a year latter I fell down 9 concrete steps, I have the tape, I missed them all and landed on the top of my head with all of my weight bearing down, and without benefit of skull. I was unconscious for 5 mins. Have broken facets in my neck (my Neuro says it is considered a broken neck and I am one of his most ill patients) and damage to the rt frontal lobe. Since the fall I have had chronic pain from the broken facets and the fact that I can't hold my head up and it puts an extra-ordinary amt of pressure on the muscles. Hence, my muscles are always in spasm, in my neck, shoulders and back. I have Botox treatments every six months and when the dr. puts the needle in the muscle moves b/c it is so swollen and taunt.
Thank you for your help. This has lead to a lot of depression & despair&prob ended my marriage.

tens machine, electronic muscle stimulation and electronic healthcare

TENS or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation is a non-invasive, drug-free method of pain relief. It is ideal for the treatment of neckpain. Pads are placed on or near the area of pain. TENS uses soothing pulses that are sent via the pads through the skin and along the nerve fibres. The pulses suppress pain signals to the brain. TENS also encourages the body to produce higher levels of its own natural pain killing chemicals called Endorphins and Encephalins.

In many cases, this stimulation will greatly reduce or eliminate pain. Relief may continue for several hours after the unit has been switched off.

I am so very sorry to hear that you are in so much pain all the time. I also have chronic pain, and wish I had a solution.

Have you tried a pain pump in your back? I know that's extreme, but it would be so much easier than going to the ER for an IV all the time. All they would have to do is put the meds through the pump and it goes straight into your system.

I wish I had a good answer for you. Hang in there.

Pain at 5 IS NOT OK!! This is not an acceptable pain level. You need to go see a pain management doctor and get your pain under control. If you need a referral then get one but make an appointment ASAP and get this checked out. Also if you truely have a need for the pain meds you won't be dependent on it so to speak. Talk to the pain management doc about this when you get in to see them.

You need to see a pain specialist. You are not really giving much information such as your age, the actual cause of the pain and how much pain you can tolerate.
You do not say where your pain is located.
There may be other alternatives to narcotic pain relievers.
