I used to think I could "hold my nose" and vote for Rudy. NOT A CHANCE. How can you vote for someone that doesn't understand that ILLEGAL and CRIME go together?
It's bad enough that we have all these pro-amnesty dems but now we have a pro-illegal @ss leading the polls for the GOP.
I hope his whole campaign implodes after this remark. When he hears the backlash, will he back peddle and say "that's not what I meant."
He already looked almost as bad a Ron Paul at the debate. All he talked about was how great of a job he did in NYC.
BTW, every person above that says Rudy is correct is ignorant. Anything ILLEGAL is a crime.

There are a lot of reason not to support Giuliani, but this is not one of them. People may claim to want honest leaders but when they attack candidates for making true statements are in effect asking to be lied to.
definition: A crime is a violation of the criminal law. For example, most traffic violations or breach of contracts are not crimes in a legal sense.
People can and often do commit illegal acts without committing a crime. Giuliani at least knows this. I hope the other candidates know also, and the voters will before the election. I don't want another 4 years of a government run by someone who thinks reality is what he wants it to be, or feels it should be in his heart.

My mouth dropped when I read that. As a former prosecutor I assume that he knows the legal definition of crime. The illegals are criminals because they are committing a crime. Rudy is an @ss!
I wonder how he's going to back his way out of this one when he understands that he stuck his foot in his mouth and the voters turn their back on him. Lots of people questioned him regarding his stance on illegal immigration. Well we now know the TRUE Rudy!
BTW, Paul supporters, don't even go there. This won't make people turn their votes over to Ron Paul. This changes nothing.

I think he did..he is playing on the "feeling card" and as he talked he started to talk out both sides. What little bit I had to like of him, is now gone. I think that the agenda is the game of playing on people's feelings and getting that feeling {Message} across the way he has. Besides what kind of Oxymoron statement is ILLEGAL isn't a crime...

I honestly don't think he will be president ever. Not unless we have another fiasco like the 2000 elections...
I read this (don't say it, I know) on Michael Moore's website. It doesn't matter that it's from that site, what matters is who the letter to Giuliani is from and what it says.

September 11th first responders, family groups and WTC recovery workers suffering from serious 9/11 related health ailments demand an apology from presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani for his delusional and insulting comments
Rudy Giuliani has insulted all September 11th first responders, family groups and especially those of us who are battling life threatening illnesses with his delusional statement, "I was at Ground Zero as often, if not more than most workers. I was there working with them." Many of us operated at the site from day one until its closure in late May 2002. First, as a rescue mission and then in the recovery of the victims and we can honestly say that your claim is a bold face lie. The majority of the time that Mr. Giuliani spent at Ground Zero was for photo ops with visiting dignitaries and celebrities, not once did he do what he claimed and "work with" the construction workers, fireman, police officers and other first responders. Is this just another cheap political stunt to win votes?
On 9/11 many brave first responders risked their lives to save others, they did not run north like Mr. Giuliani. Frequently, he is proclaimed a hero, but in reality he was not a hero that day or any day since. 70% of September11th first responders are experiencing health problems and that started because Rudy told us the air was safe and did not give us 'face fitted' respirators until November 2001. Hundreds of seriously ill first responders will be Rudy Giuliani's true legacy.
We will not stand by and let Rudy Giuliani recreate history. While Mr. Giuliani claims to "be one of us" working on the pile, the truth is that he rarely visited the site and after leaving office he never once lifted a finger to help the hundreds of 9/11 first responders that are dealing with life threatening illnesses. While we suffered, he was off making millions of dollars and planning his presidential campaign on the backs of true heroes.
Mr. Giuliani, your comments were reckless and caused pain to many 9/11 families. We are demanding a public apology for your incorrect and distorted statements.
Deputy Chief Jim Riches – FDNY Mr. Mike McCormack - Search & Rescue
Lt. Jim McCaffrey - FDNY Mr. Al Santora – FDNY Chief of Safety (ret.)
Mr. Willie Barnes - Iron Worker Lt. Al Regenhart – NYPD (ret.)
*************Who would want someone like this in office? Giuliani has capitalized on 9/11 and now he will capitalize on illegal immigration....just like the good money monger that he is.

There is no way in hell I would vote for any Presidential candidate who cannot figure out that we need to secure our borders and take our country back from ILLEGAL immigrants who accuse us of being racist just because we don't want our tax money going to subsidize them. Period.

It might not have been the smartest thing to say politically, but what he said, sorry to tell you, is absolutely correct. Being in the country illegal is a civil offense on par with a speeding ticket and not a federal crime. What he said has nothing to do with his ability to reason. He stated a fact.
Everything else about what he did or didn't do before and after 9/11 is a different issue.

Yes he did. There is no way someone with those views is going to be elected in 08. I see him backing out before the primary.
