In talking with a guy at work, if he mentions that he "likes to read my emails because they make him smile", should I not read into this and take it as a kind remark or see it as more than that? He seems to smile and keep good eye contact when we speak. Guys...thoughts? Suggestions?

guys mean what they say. we dont play games, except to get sex.
it means he likes your emails, thats it.
if you would like to pursue this, to date him, give it a shot. but all you can tell from this is, he likes your emails.
ask him out in an email. or say " here is one i hope you will like.
ask me out ".
and good eye contact just means you were not wearing anything low cut. we guys are very simple creatures. like childern. very easliy distracted.

That amount of information is not enough to read more into. That was a normal friendly remark. And keeping good eye contact and smiling are the behaviors of a civilized and well-behaved person. I don't think it necessarily means anything else. Don't assume it does. It is, of course, possible that he is interested in you beyond enjoying your emails. It's just that you seem to lack evidence that that is so.

I am glad that you notice he keeps good eye contact, that is definitely a sign. He is not bored with you or just being polite. Do not tell the boss but you are probably affecting his job performance! Bring up the fact that you are going to lunch at an interesting place and see if he bites. If he does not take the bait the first time, you probably through him off guard. Trust me, he will accept the second time because he will realize the mistake of his nervous rejection.

u should have mentioned your age. if u both in your 20 i say he likes u. keep writing emails and if u like him try showing it somehow. boys in their 20 re shy, but u know they want to bang anything that moves., right?

He's interested in you, but for whatever reason he is unsure about one of two things: One, his own self confidence, or two, your feelings for him. My guess is that he has no confidence and you will lose respect for him. Save yourself the trouble and move on.
