You could take Interstate 5 but if you want a GOOD trip, take the Pacific Coast Highway, also Hwy. 1. Have a nice trip.
Oh, you can go Amtrak if you're not driving - good train ride.

A taxi could get you there in about 2 hours for about $200.00.
You could also get a plane fom LAX to San Diego. There are also a lot car car rentals in that area. Rent a car. Take the Interstate 405 south you can not miss the city of San Diego. Good luck and have fun It is a very nice drive Lots of great scenery

I work at LAX. If you donot want to rent a car (that would be best), you can take the train. When you arrive at LAX go to the lower level, go outside and stand under the "GREEN" sign that says long distance buses. Get on the Flyaway Bus that goes to Union Station. That is where you can get a train to San Diego. You really have 3 options, fly, try Southwest or United Express, rent a car or take the train. If you have anymore questions I am at... kingsleydr60@yahoo.com

Take the LAX flyaway (departs every 30 minutes) from LAX to Union Station. Then, take Amtrak to San Diego. Trains go every 1 - 2 hours from LA to SD.

well from lax you could take the Flyway to Union station
then amtrak to San Diego (or even a new service call
Megabus (if you book far enough in adance you could
only pay $1.00! for this trip (but the closer to the date the higher the fare would be)
(see http://www.megabus.com/us
