Thumbs up to you. I am thankful that we have sensible young people still in our schools. I truly wish prayer was still allowed in schools. God bless you.

I am always amazed at the people who really don't know that it wasn't Prayer that was removed. How in the world can anyone stop you from bowing your head and praying to your God? They can't...... They removed LEAD prayer. I don't want teachers in a public school leading my child in a religion he does not belong to. Just as I'm sure Christians don't want a Pagan like me going in there and leading their children in my religious rituals.

It's called Freedom Of Religion. This country is based on Equality for All. If you don't like that, then I suggest you ask to be homeschooled or go to a religious school where that is allowed.

No prayer in school is making kids nasty and bad. and we should be blamened for doing that. Is that what you are saying? It's kind of hard to tell. We didn't remove prayer from the school. It's not against the law. really. It's just the teacher won't lead and you can do it at lunch or 1st. period or quite time, any time you like. so please, shut up.
And if you are 16 you are old enough to take responsibility for your own actions. Stop trying to blame anybody but yourself.

Prayer is religion. Public funding of schools is for education, not to promote religion. If you want prayer in school, go to a religious school. By the way, older, religious folks are also nasty and bad. Look at bush and bin-laden.

Every generation complains about how much worse the younger generation is. Society changes, and so do the kids. It's a continual pattern that has lasted since the beginning of civilization. It's a society's morals that determine good and bad behavior. I don't really think that it has anything to do with prayer.

I think you're mixing up prayer with morals. One does not need to pray to be a moral and just person. Personally, I am glad prayer was removed from schools. As a member of a minority religion, I would have to pray some other religion's prayer. I believe in the separation of church and state.
Now, if we can only get rid of sports, we might be on the right track.

There hasn't been prayer allowed in schools since MY grandmother was in school - and she's been dead 19 years now.

You can pray anywhere you want - no one will stop you. The no prayer in schools is about no organized, required daily public prayer. that's it. Schools cannot and WILL NOT stop you from praying over your lunch, before test, etc as long as you do it silently and to yourself. Most schools even allow a christian youth group to use the building after schools.

This is a very misunderstood topic -and clearly you misunderstood it as well.

Prayer has nothing to do with your behavior - if you're truly christian, then you'll act that way, regardless of what the public school allows and you know it.

pray if you want to pray. And if your generation doesn't like the label you have. change it learn manners, learn respect,
learn to put others before yourselves. If you see an older person walking in a building open the door. let them go in line in front of you. Stop talking trashy in front of people. Get the picture, Change there perceptions. Why do we think the young generation is rude. Go to the mall on a friday night or anywhere there are a group of kids, don't say anything, just listen and watch and you'll figure it out.

The prayers were not removed in school. I recently turned 17. The seperation of church and state insists that a teacher, or leader of any school function can NOT promote prayer of one religion over another. MEANING- The teacher can not have the class take a few moments out of the day to pray to the Christian (Or any other specific God). You are free to pray when and wherever you want, no one is stopping anyone from praying in school. Your teacher just can't LEAD you in it.- It's promoting one religion over another, that is what was stopped.

You have the right to pray in school. However, the teachers do not have the ability to lead a public prayer. How would you like it if your teacher led a Buddhist prayer?

I've heard this argument before. Prayer in the school doesn't stop violence.

I'm not trying to insult you, but what does school prayer have to do with the way kids behave? Also, I don't think kids of this generation are nasty and bad as a whole, any more than any other generation.
