I was just wondering how much weight would a person lose if they fast for a few days and keep eating very little after that?

As always, how much weight you lose depends on how active you are. If you are fasting and sitting around doing nothing, you won't lose much weight. If you are active, you will drop several pounds. But fasting for a few days isn't a good way to lose weight because once you start eating again, the body begins to pack on fat, in case it runs into a 'famine' situation again (which is how your body perceives fasting). You are much better to start a regime of several small meals and stick with that. You will lose weight, but it won't rebound like it does after fasting.

Not a good idea!! You would initially lose some weight and then your body will go into starvation mode and hold onto any fat you have. It needs fuel to keep the metabolism up. Eat a few small meals a day and see how fast the weight comes off.

I just read the responses of some of the other posters and I couldn't take it any more. They obviously do not understand the miracle of fasting. Fasting is NOT starvation. It takes at least 50 days for most people to enter real starvation. Initially the body enters Kitosis, where it burns fat. The body is smart. It will burn the fat before it burns muscle or vital tissue. Fasting has been around for thousands of years. Jesus fasted for 40 days to purify himself. So did Moses and Budah and Socrates. Fasting works but Modern individuals have many toxins built up from an unhealthy modern diet. Probably its best to start with a Juice fast and work up to a water fast after several tries. Read Paul Braggs book, "The Miracle of Fasting". Try it and it will change your life. IT did for me.

Less weight than if the person ate a 1000 to 1200 calorie per day diet. If you fast and eat very little, you will be starving and your body will dramatically reduce its metabolic rate to try and preserve muscles and organs. You will also stress your liver and kidneys.

If you reduce calories, keeping enough calorie, protein and carbohydrate intake to allow for normal body functions then your metabolism will not slow down and you will lose weight.

Expect to lose 1-2 pounds per week on a sensible, moderate calorie diet.

That probably won't work because the human body thinks a fast is a famine. So to save energy and preserve fat-stores, it starts to burn calories more slowly. This can lead to weight gain when the fasting finishes. A fast can also lead to a slow down in your metabolism and an increase in food-cravings.

It really depends on your metabolic rate and how little you eat etc. However, your plan is not very good. Eating little can mean starving yourself of important nutrients that you need. When you lack adequate nutrition, you can end up with a lot of health problems like bad skin, depression, etc.

It is far better to eat healthily and to adopt regular exercise. For what is healthy eating, you can refer to this site http://www.food-diet-remedy.com

Fasting is more for people who wish to detoxify and remove accumulated waste. For fasting information, you can refer to this site http://www.detox-cleansing.com

you lose a lot, however by starving yourself you immensely slow down your metabolism, which means anything you eat will almost immediately be stored as fat
