First, you have to determine how much sleep is enough. If you are physically tired or emotionally down, your body compensates with sleep. Ideally, we need 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day.
Second, you have to find out if you are not suffering from any illness. When the body is not well, certain biological rhythms are disrupted. You may want to test for increase in blood sugar. See your physician for this.
Third, is there anything that you are unconsciously avoiding in your waking hours? That, is going to let you prolong your sleep.
Finally, making your sleeping and waking hours more regular can help regulate sleep. If you go to bed at 10 PM and wake up at 6 AM, do this everyday. Even on Sundays!
