Muslims have so many sects. You know the obivious Sunni and Shia. But there are the others Sufis, alwaities, Druze, Ahmadis etc. Each one of them calls each a Kufr(non believer) and kills each other. Why do muslims of different sects kill each other?

Do you realize that christianity has many sects as well?

You know the obvious Roman Catholics, and the Methodists, and the Baptists, and the Lutherans, and the Presbyterians, Episcopalians, Seventh Day Adventists, Pentacostals, Eastern Orthodox, Christian Scientists, Latter Day Saints, Messianic Judaism, Anglicans, Congregationalists, Scandanavian Pietists, Plymouth Brethren, Church of the Nazarene, etc.

Yes, they even kill each other in factional wars (e.g. Northern Ireland last decade).

Having different religions is another reason to be intolerant against your fellow man.

Some believe that only the direct descendants of Mohammad is the true Muslim following. While another sect of the family of Mohammad but not direct descendants believe that they too can preach the Muslim faith. This feud has been going on longer than the Hatfield's and McCoys. To think that the US will be able to mediate a peace between these sects after more than a thousand years is folly. This is a religious conflict being mediated by a country founded on the separation of Church and State. This is the kind of irony that the devil thrives on. May God help us all.

Brian,
There are many different Denominations (sects) in Christianity as well. Man is unable to follow GID'S WORD as it is written and always wants to rule his own destiny. This is probably the reason for the Muslim Sects also. They are very much into the Old Testament ways and are rather violent in their ways as a result. Have a wonderful weekend.

Not only Muslims. Today there are 1500 different religious sects. And they all want to be supreme. Mankind has let religion turn God into a competitive business.

Christianity has a similar history, killings and all. It's because each and every believer, in every religion (and every non-believer, for that matter) is a HUMAN BEING. Dratted things, anyway. The Jews started it! Cain and Able, and those rowdy sons of Jacob.

Muslims?

There are at least 34 K sects of Christianity, and counting. Everyone of them thinks they are the ONLY true religion.

Muslims have different sects for the very same reason that Christians have different denominations-----people have a different interpretation of scriptures than others do.

Christians have a lot of sects too. And there have been wars between groups of Christians.

It is a shame when ANY one kills another because of their religion.

It's probably for the same reason that Christians have so many denominations: disagreements on small matters, with no one being willing to bend a little and compromise because they all feel they're "right."

I am not sure but it may be the same as Denominations in Christianity. Of coarse I do not know enough about Islam to be for sure.
