Can I sleep laying down on my side the first day after having my bottom molar extracted? Will that cause the clot to dislodge at all? Or should I sleep in the lazyboy tonight?

Thanks for your response. There was nothing listed on the paperwork about how I should sleep and I was too doped up to ask before I left the office. Thanks!

I had a molar pulled last year. They usually give you a paper of do's and don'ts with your gauze. But I had to sleep lying down after that (too tired from being drugged!) and I was fine. Just don't do anything too physical. I made that mistake and my mouth was THROBBING!! BIG MISTAKE. When they say take it easy, they mean it!

Also... You're not suppose to drink out of a straw for a while because you can get a dry socket and I heard thats very painful.

There shouldn't be any problem. I've had a number of teeth pulled and lying down didn't cause any problems for me. I would lie on the side opposite of where the tooth was pulled. Good luck, feel better.
