9 11. I was a senior in high school and I heard the teacher sniffling. She took us outside without telling us why and my mom came to pick me up. We watched the news glued to the screen. We cried a little, because my older brother was in New York for vacation. He called shortly after we turned off the TV. When we knew it was over, mom took me and my little sister to the only rollerblading place opened. She though we should have something cheerful in the sea of sadness. That's what I wrote in my diary that day. I can still remember it like it was yesterday. Remember.

How can we possibly forget? My daughters had just been dropped off at their very first year at college. One in Savannah and the other in Chicago. We stayed on the phone together for hours. I was at work, and school was canceled for them. I was terrified for both of them so far from home.

Let's also remember the 3700 men and women, our sons and daughters who have made the ultimate sacrifice to fight a rich man's war for oil. We have no business being in Iraq, and our president has not protected our soldiers but callously wasted their lives. Honor our troops, but not the wealthy cowards who used them for political fodder.
