The Almighty did that when it was necessary, and only in rare occasions.
You can read the old testament in a day or two right through, and count them all in forty eight hours and that seems like a lot. But it all happened over millenniums. Not in forty eight hours.
The last time God talked to us was when the Christ walked amongst us. It has been two thousand years now and I've got a feeling that withing the next few centuries He's going to be having a chat with us again. Sometimes I feel His little chat with us is going to be in a few short decades!
But then I don't know. No one does know when He is going to send His Son back to us for good. However....when it happens? You can bet there is going to be a lot of that "fun" loving smiting you're looking for. Old fashioned or not, good or not. I think it is coming relatively soon.

Because he doesn't exsist, or atleast with the powers he is said to have. If you want a god, go to something that is more realistic such as Buddhism. Christianity, and Catholicism are both just manipulated "truths" that are used to control your lives, and "God" never smited anyone. There is no physical proof of this happining, except for the bible. But the bible is, again, political propaganda that cant be taken for face value, or any value for that matter.

It depends on what God considers a non-believer. You may think someone is a non-believer, but maybe you're the heretic. God is the judge, not you. God isn't like a magic genie you can keep in a lamp, and when someone says something you don't like, you say a few prayers and rub the lamp and set Him on the person.

He does. I had a manager / boss who was having an affair with one of the cashiers at the store, he was stealing money and gambling it away and was just a horrible person. God allowed him to dig himself into a deep pit for 7 years then it all came down on him at once. He finally got caught and was taken out of the store in handcuffs. He was charged and convicted of misappropriation of funds. During the trial it came out that he was having an affair with the cashier. He lost his wife, his kids his job his home his car and then he lost his freedom. Once he did his time in prison and got out God gave him a heart attack and killed him.
Lost people are often to blind to see that all of their missery and woes is the result of their own LOST condition and sin.

God is within you.
Mostly if someone deserves smiting and you do things right they just kind of go away.
If you let anyone be important enough for you to hate them then you put them before God so those you want God Smacked probably will never receive it.

I don't think God ever did that. It was a good story to tell followers to put "the fear" inside them. I often wonder if God is ever hurt or angry about being made to look so awful by humans...
