How can my lcd tv support 1080i and actually show 1080i if the screen resolution is 1366*768?

Doesn't it have to be 1920 by 1080 to be true 1080i?

1080i means the picture has two fields, each 1920x 540

A cheap processor, can take one field and scale it up to 768.
A better processor, can combine the two fields and then scale it down to 1366x768 for display.
