i mean seriously i'm an Atheist (that's right CAPITAL A for atheist to even the playing field) who knows their is no God and wants to f***ing strangle them. But i don't try to force my beliefs on them. And don't say prove God doesn't exist. I could just say prove that he does, so this argument is pointless.
Is this a great Bill Maher quote or what?:
During Maher's appearance on Larry King Live on August 11, 2005, he said he was an agnostic who nevertheless is still quite open to the idea that God exists. The following exchange also occurred on that program:
CALLER: "Hi. Well, my question is, the Lord spoke to me approximately three years ago, and if the Lord spoke to you [Maher], I was wondering if you'd become a believer."
MAHER: "No, I'd check into Bellevue, which is what you should do..."

to people who ask why i'm here if i don't want to hear other opinions: this question is regarding their tendency to force their values on others rather than the values themselves (although i admit i disagree with them)

jcristallo-"To help others is also a mission for Christians. So from me to you may you know the mercy of God and have Him let you "see" the love He has for you and the rest of his children."
Dude, that's the same excuse that white slave owners used to justify slavery. Oh, were just helping them. Go try to help your self you oppressive jerk. Ya, forcing your values on the others is the real "Christian" thing to do.

thirty8special03-DON'T YOU GET IT? Stop trying to "help us", even if it is truly with good intentions. I don't want to be prayed for. This is my exact point. Stop trying to spread your values (even just using them to "help" athiests.)

people, did you not hear me the first time!! STOP PRAYING FOR ME!!!!!!!!! and about the "admit you were created by God" thing: now see my point. Your phrase equals "You S.O.B., i am an angry Christian asshole who is on a life quest to f***ing piss atheists and other religious groups off (no offense to Christians who didn't have oppresive answers.)

god is love-i think i was the oppresed "legion" guy, because Christians wouldn't let me have my beliefs.
And to some of you illogical crackheads-mentioning that Christians are oppresive doesn't make me oppresive. i'm just saying what my experience is.

I'm also Atheist. I'm fine with people believing whatever they want. The only problem I have is with all the christians that push their religion, and their beliefs onto everyone that thinks for them selfs. The way they all create these retarded blue laws that restrict woman to have control over their body, prevents Atheists from going into a government position in some states, and how it makes gays have unequal rights.
I've got a better quote
Nietzsche-A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.

That was one of the best pleas I've read in a long time and I sympathise with how you feel, even if I'm not gay. However I think it is a mistake to automatically associate hate with being put to death. Would you not put down your old crippled dog and still love him? Even the ArchDevil, Hitler, had them put to death. I would not advocate that and do not agree with the bible's statements on the subject. What I personally dislike is that, considering that there are well over 2 billion people on this planet that are religious and not in favour of 'gays', why you insist in affronting them with what they view as sin, and are always pressing for more tolerance, to the extent of having marriages and so on. So it can be no suprise to you that they react against it, even strongly. Wisdom would say stay in the closet and keep to yourselves. When things get rough, as they are going to over the next few years and beyond, it is well known that populations turn on minorities they dislike to give vent to their fear and anger. As Christ said, Let he who is without sin throw the first stone. I do not throw stones, but others will. Don't be a target seems commonsense and perhaps even wise.

A Chrisitan -a follower of God.
You sound a litttle hot today!
Men will be men. It is not in you to gain and interest in God. So at least you are not fake! You can not help it. God chooses us we do not chose him.
What is insanity? The man called legion was exiled from the society because he was considered insane. He said" what do you want to have to do with me Son of the most high God?" Agnostics like the notion there is a God but would like their own way.
You are what we call a natural man of the world. You have a human instinct. So you are what God calls cold.
Agnostic is a person that has a will to their own devices. What is the meaning of goodness? The natural feelings of the heart for the common good of man. God exist. But it is all up to us. Bill Mahuer would not know anything about God. He is in his own little fleshly world. Does he think before he says what he thinks is? If he was of another race he would have been assassinated. So know one apparently takes him seriously! Matthew 12:23-45.

I will pray for you my friend. I do not shove anything down any ones throat. If someone wants to hear about God's love and mercy i am all for sharing his word and promice. But other than that it is up to that individual to believe. The good thing is that God love's each and everyone of us, even Atheist with a captial 'A' Believe me i don't benefit anything from sharing God's word except knowing that i might have led a lost soul to God. And that is the best reward i can think of. have a blessed day! may God's love touch you in a way that you cannot resist.

I am so flattered every time a non-believer so easily freaks out about a Christian and the goodness of Christian values because you people give us power we really don't have in getting you all hot and bothered. Why is that? Huh?? Why do you care how much we love the Lord and He loves us if you don't truly crave a piece of God too? Face it, you were created by God, for God, and in the image of God. Denying Him only hurts yourself. In the end, it will be you who will desire to hear any Christian share God with you, but it will now be too late because God will have shut up any more chances for redemption. If that happens, and I pray that it doesn't, you will be checking in a far worse place than Bellevue and for all eternity.

Politicians say what ever they have to to get elected it doesn't mean they believe a word of what they are saying.
They know when they do it that it is a bunch of lies.
Bush has 35 writers on staff working full time look it up.
All he has to do is stand in front of a tella promptor and read it. They find out what the public wants to hear and what will give his public opinion a boast. Has nothing to do with policy or Iraq war. He wants to settle the middle east so he can have the oil. He is the oil companys and they are in business to make money and they can make more of it if they own the oil wells. If you still believe that makes them a Christian you should check into Bellevue.

Why doesn't the lunatic left shut up about their good hedonistic values? I think every group promotes their value system. It's a free country. Every group should be allowed to promote their value system, within reason. France, around the time of the American revolution, was having their own revolution, based on the rejection of religious values. What they got was a dictatorship and a tremendous blood bath. Our country is very steeped in Christian tradition and our country has turned out far better than France. Since the gov't has tried to remove Christianity from mainstream society, our country has gotten consistently worse. That's not the only factor but I believe it is a major factor. George Washington, in his Farewell Address talked about the role religion plays in morality, saying that morality goes down the toilet, basically, if you don't encourage religion, and that has happened today because people don't believe the Bible anymore. Only very few really take it seriously.

I guess I could ask why Atheists are always complaining about Christians. I honestly do not "brag" about my values, or go on and on about them. I don't know where this is coming from.
Actually, I've found a pattern on R&S. Atheists generally don't come to this forum unless it's to try to put themselves above Christians. What is ironic, I've found that Christians do not hold themselves above Atheists. It's almost like the Atheists are feeling some sort of unconscience bitterness against the Christians. (as to why, I'm not completely sure.) But I've been attacked as a Christian, just because I'm a Christian. And, prejudice against Christians runs rampant. I'm accused of crimes I am not aware that I've ever comitted.
Anyway, I do not want to argue with Atheists. I think we should agree to disagree. Please know that I will still pray for you, because, as a Christian, I'm obligated. But surely, that shouldn't anger you. Why would you get upset with someone who only wants the best for you, and sincerely wants to help you?
Just for the record, it is a funny quote.

I am not a Christian (Asatru/Forn Sidr), but I can say that the values of my religion are pretty much in line with Christian values - the love of truth and the respect for family, property, life, and my nation. While I believe in gods rather than one god, I think that some basic values are universal.
Moreover, I think you'll find that the majority of Christians today are generally at least as tolerant as any atheist. I don't see them forcing you to believe in god (or in my case - gods). And in my experience they're certainly a lot more friendly than most atheists.
As far as being judgmental, they may judge atheists as bound for hell, but you judge Christians to be deranged. Keep your pointy finger to yourself.

Can you please clarify who you want to strangle? The atheists or the gods. I agree, with the pointless argument thing and... well, about the values... I think it's a shame those are mentioned. I personally don't care so much about moral values as much as for my life. That's why I lay in the face of God's mercy shown at the world flood, calvary and every day of my miserable life.
P.S. If they start torture you to become a Christian, don't be a fool, pretend you are one. It's easy, that's what most of those who force do ;).
