I would like to know if any of you have any advice on what brand, and what type of tv is the best out in the market right now. Money is not really an issue, we would rather spend a little more for something to last us longer. Thanks for your answers in advance.

This month's consumer reports reviews TVs. Also go to HDTV magazine on line. The size of set depends on the room you intend to install it in. Get a set with a variety of input connector types and multiples of each to maximize your flexibility in connecting sources. Because HDTVs handle a variety of signals with different resolutions and aspect ratios, it's possible for a set to look good with one signal type, and not so good with another. Try to view the set you're interested in when being fed by a variety of signals-720P, 1080i, DVD, HD DVD and standard definition. Some sets reflect light more than others, so it's important to consider where it will be placed in choosing the set. Some sets do far better with the kind of movement that occurs in sports than others. Make sure you see the set being fed by a fast moving game.
Good luck!

Here put simply is the differences between Plasma and LCD

LCD's: Higher resolution (Sharper),brighter, non-reflective.

PLASMA: Faster processor for movement, (Smoother images) more natural colours (because of higher contrasts),and 3 dimensional look.

Most people are buying LCDs, as with HD TV they look that much sharper, etc. If you are a sports fanatic, recommend Plasma still, because of lots of movement, but for general TV / Dvds and gaming, LCD. Follow the trend!

Both are great technologies, just different! Similar prices across the board too.

It seems that no matter who you talk too, or read reviews about, Plasma still comes up with the overall best picture, but most people would rather have Sharper Image, and Non-Reflective screen, than a more Realistic Image with Smoother Movement?!?!

Recommend: Sony/Samsung/Sharp LCDs. Panasonic/Pioneer/Samsung plasmas.

Hope this helps.

make sure you get 1920 x 1080 resolution commonly refered to as 1080P , not to be confused with 1080i compatable.
