Have been married before and just want to go and have a quick ceremony. Where can you get a marriage license and get married on the spot. I am in MIchigan and have had people tell me to go to Toledo, Ohio, or Indiana somewhere or a drive thru in Vegas, how does this work. Thanks!!!

Hi. I live in Michigan too! I just researched this for someone else. There is a three (3) day waiting period in Michigan. This may be waived by the county clerk for "good and sufficient cause shown." I know you can get one right on the spot in Las Vegas. I'm not sure about Ohio or Indiana. Why don't you go to the websites for those states and research it? Good luck.

When you say 'on the spot' do you mean get the license and then get married in the same building, or do you just mean in the same day?

If you mean in the same building, then a courthouse is your only option. You HAVE to apply for a license there, and you need to do your homework first because not all judges preform weddings. Also, you have to make sure that the state doesn't have a waiting period.

If you just mean in the same day, then all you have to do is pick a state that doesn't have a waiting period, like Nevada or Indiana. I'm not sure about Ohio, but I don't think they do, either.

I married in Indiana, and I applied for the license the day before the ceremony. It was only $18.00.

In Vegas you get your marriage license right on the spot. When you go to the courthouse it takes a couple days to process.

Good luck!

There is a difference between the marriage license and the ceremony. You can get the license at the courthouse. You can have the ceremony anywhere you want.

Seriously -- Vegas.

Walk in to marriage bureau, pay $55 fee, walk out with license, head to nearest chapel, pay their fee, walk out married. Or just have the justice of the peace marry you there in the courthouse. Either way, Vegas is quite literally the quickest and easiest way to get married.

We went to the courthouse and got our license and then went down the hall to the Justice of the Peace and got married on the spot. Most courthouse are like this.

Please go to Las Vegas! We married there, and at the court house, it literally took us 7 minutes to get our license.

Here is the place we married, and they were sensational-
www.littlechapel.com.

Our ceremony was 17 minutes long, but I´ve seen some on the internet that lasted 5 minutes-it´s the way to go!
