Please help me, Billy and I have a caramel/butterscotches leather living room suite. Our house is small and we are looking to paint it so that it appears larger. I don't want to use a dark color which has been suggested with this color before..is there a lighter alternative so I can compliment and still get the feel of a larger living area"

I'd stick with cool colors for the walls. A pale turquoise or blue would be very fresh, young, and modern. A light sage color would be a bit more traditional but it would also complement the caramel color. Blues and greens are beautiful with the lighter browns like your furniture.

Since Caramel is sort of a neutral color you could go with just about any color you want.

Do you have a favorite painting, or picture you are using in the living room? You can use the color schemes in that to paint your walls. Going with a lighter shade. Have you thought about using more than one color? That can be very striking...

what about a pale camel color and then bright white for trim work..we did this in our house..and the white makes the other color beautiful..if you cannot use the camel color...another shade in the same family as your couch..get some paint swatches and lay them out and see what looks best

Pastels would work, light blue, yellow, peach, or aqua blue,or a shade of white would work well too..I'd likely go with a pale yellow to compliment it though..>=)
