I think it's a mix of things, including fear. I will honestly say that Islam is a threat to our society and humanity.

You still are a bigot. I converted to Islam years ago but I don't care what Bin Laden says, had nothing to with it. I love Muslims.
The end of the article from Yahoo news had a quote by a woman who studied converts in Germany and she said you should NOT judge them by the ones who got arrested. She said that converts to Islam in Germany are by far more law abiding than the average German.

I don't know about you being a bigot but what difference does it make why people convert to Islam? Long before 911 people were free to choose what religion they chose to follow ... and they still are. I know Christians that converted to Islam, Buddism, and I even know a person who is of the Hebrew faith.
In every culture there are people who got the game twisted. If they want to kill... they will kill. This choice falls under free-will. You don't need to be labled to do so. There are some extremist terrorist groups out there that claim Islam and have given it a bad name. This is sad. All it does is bring more bad press and innuendo to the true Muslims. I know. My husband happens to be one.
I choose to love people for who they are... not what religious preference they choose. I could give a care less if you were Greek Orthodox. Seeing as people are from different cultures.. they all have a contribution to society, even if it is what NOT to follow.
What do you think of Wicken? What do you think of Vampirism? What do you think of Voodoo? Yeah... what about Satists? Terrorism is not a topic that is spoken of loosely. It is a form of atrocity. It steals, kills, and destroys.
Choose your battles and questions wisely. Everyone on here is not against what God has put in place... and if so... what are YOU going to do about it? Talk the Talk? or Walk the Walk? The choice is yours. Now... y'all share that.

I think that we are SUPPOSED to have religious freedom in this country. There are plenty of people that hate the U.S. that aren't Muslim. There are plenty of Muslims that don't believe in preaching hate and war.
Discrimination against ALL the members of one group is ugly, no matter what group it is. As an example...Nazi Germany. There were many good people that got caught up in the Nazi's beliefs. They didn't believe what they were doing was wrong at the time. A whole nation went crazy because they were fed a steady diet of hate and war. If America doesn't stop feeding at the same trough, we will soon be in a similar situation.

i am a convert to islam, i chose islam because i felt it was the truth i have never felt so much peace and understanding in a religion. i am an american full blooded. i chose islam because i believe it is the final chapter in religion begun with jews and christians who were given the bible and finished off with the last and final book the quran. muslims believe everything christians do except the truth about jesus, and the fact that we associate nothing with God , allah in arabic who is the same God of all 3 religions. i know nothing about what bin laden is thinking. he might be off his rocker, and along with all the so called terroist and converts who are changing religion for the soul purpose of hurting people they are nothing but lost sheep. muslims cannot be considered muslims if they kill and hurt others , the moment they commit sins such as these they are no longer muslims but unbelievers. because they are not following gods word. i cannot consider them my brothers and sisters in islam all i can do is pray for their guidence. i would not convert for any man. i converted for God and God alone. bin laden my butt who would convert just because he says so. he cant get me to paradise. muslims are wonderful people. straight believing practicing muslims. but the other ones, i just wish they would read their quran and stop disobeying God and get back on the right path. very lost souls they are

You need to remember, like another user has said on this topic and I second it; that there are psychos in all religions. The last time anyone looked in the Qur'an it did not say, KILL EVERYONE WHO IS NOT YOUR FOLLOWER AND FOLLOW THE MASS MURDERER OSAMA BIN LADEN. Jihad means struggle. To follow a different religion than mainstream ones is struggle. Kill the infidel doesnt mean to do it for no effing reason. It means that you have the right to defend your self if someone attacks you FIRST.

I don't really have any thoughts regarding converts to Islam. It is not my religion, and not a conversion I would ever submit to, myself.
I've known many Muslims, but most were born into the faith. The only convert I've ever known converted because she married a Muslim man.

I am a convert to Islam and it had absolutely nothing to do with Bin Laden. I learned the truth about Islam and realized it perfectly matched how I had already felt for years. You need to remember that there are nuts in all religions, not just Islam. In general, I think most converts are well informed and have no intentions of hurting ANYBODY.

what bin laden has to do with that?
if you think people become Muslims to bomb America think again, if you learn about Islam you will know why people convert to it.

Islam is a wonderful religion comprised of many people who exhibit great devotion to God every day. What is wrong with people deciding to convert if their hearts lead them?

Converts from Christianity to Islam are jumping out of the fire into the frying pan. Christians are crusaders and Muslims are Jihadis. What difference does it make? I like the Christian faithful about as much as I like the Muslim faithful.
