What I mean is... it is evident that it will happen and there is no stopping it. So instead of focusing on 'illegal' immigrants coming here, maybe people should focus on laws that wages and benefits be the same for ALL regardless. If that happened it would remove the incentive for cheaper labor because all would get the SAME. In essence, it seems that would protect American jobs, wouldn't it?

What they need to do is effect tough laws fining employers who hire illegal immigrants. but they need to grant amnesty to all the people who have been living here for years and been productive members of society which 99% have.

Socialism is not the answer...

First, I don't buy into the "there's no stopping it" position.

If you expect everyone to obey the laws of this country, giving partiality to those who clearly have broken laws is not fair and just to those who have immigrated legally, nor to those who were citizens by birthright who have (by and large) been good citizens.

Claim what you wish, but my parents are LEGAL immigrants.

As to the wage question...

Look...there are many jobs in the United States that have unions. Even NFL players are in a union yet you clearly see that some make more than others. Should all those players get paid the same? Should they get the same pay as doctors or custodians? How would you classify teachers? Would that include college professers or would colleges cease to exist as a business and become government run? What do homeless people get paid as and where do they collect their checks?

Your ideas of utopia seem chemically enhanced- oh, speaking of which, since smoking 1 joint is the equivillant of about a pack of cigarettes, does medicinal pot get removed from the government healthcare plan?

Tell you what...let's open up the prisons and let everyone out. Give everybody another chance. Everybody who hasnt committed a crime, you lose your freebie.

Start over.

Now...can't we all just get along?

Obviously you believe that we have different wage scales on the books for employers to pay legals versus illegals. The people that are employing illegal aliens aren't exactly reporting their wages to anyone. Good guess, but wrong! The answer is to enforce the employment laws and jail and fine companies, farms and individuals that employ undocumented workers by giving the ICE the authority to do job site inspections to determine citizenship of workers and arrest employers in violation of the law. That would cause the jobs to go away and that would remove the incentive for the illegals to cross the border.

No, one of the reasons we have not had salaries rise to the cost of living, is that the illegals are under cutting the wages in many jobs. Just look to the building trades to evident to this.
In 1986 we had 3.1 millions granted amnesty, now 2007 we have between 12-20 million, if we do nothing, how many more are on the way.

O, that's smart. Lets increase the pay for the illegal no taxing payers. You got it all figured out. How about fine and charge the companies hiring the illegals. And take the illegals make them build the biggest and baddest board for minimum food and shelter then ship back to where they belong. Geez, can we stop giving these illegal people breaks. Lets worry about the hard working struggling Americans.

It would, IF illegals weren't afraid of being found out.

Legally, that is the federal law - one must pay a worker minimum wage, or according to the federal laws on compensation for work. BUT - illegals are afraid of being found out, so they don't want to alert anyone to their whereabouts. Reporting an employer would do just that.

Not if the illegals can't make that wage where they come from. We should stop treating them like Americans with rights, and just deport them when caught.

No I think we have known that secure borders to control who comes into the country is the smart thing to do. The problem of illegal immigration has gotten way out of hand. We want the government to take action and they are sitting on their butts. That has caused much frustration and anger.

It wouldn't matter if those laws were put into place, they wouldn't be anyway because no one will support it, its the employers who pay those illegals less than min. wage and even lower even if its illegal.
