.A military career is not for everyone,it can make or break people.
Join for the right reasons,as a career choice and think it out very carefully before deciding.Talk it over with your family as it can have an effect on them as well.
Remember that if you join the military you may end up in a combat zone and this can have serious consequences as you can imagine, both physically as well as mentally.
If you are prone to peer pressure then I would advise against joining.
If it feels right and you join up it can have its rewards as well as the not so good stuff. You will learn discipline, how to look after yourself, self defence and a feeling of accomplishing something in your life.
But you must only join up if it feels right for you.
If you are saying you are an easy pushover you can change that about yourself without joining the Forces.Respect yourself.

In the military, there is always something to condone or condemn your actions, you are either right or wrong, no in-between. That and the duration and intensity of the work builds resolve and in calling yourself a 'pushover' you are stating you are either lacking self confidence or resolve.
Yes, it would help you in that regard, however I reiterate stuarts post "People in the military tend to get shot at"

The military helps you develop critical thinking skills. Those are pretty important when assessing how others are interacting with you, and often guide you to an appropriate response.
On the downside, people in the military tend to get shot at.

Joining the Military provides young adults today, several
things, that they do not have.
Self-respect, respect for others, self-discipline, teamwork,
selfconfidence, assertiveness, defensiveness and character.
But joinging the military, for that purpose. You're joining for the
wrong reasons. Many that have learned all that, and have
come home with a purple heart, and limbs missing. Have to
learn it all over again. And my heart goes out to them. <}:-})

No, if you joined the military bad things would happen to you. It will make you more of a "Yes woman" saying "Yes sir" "Right away sir". It would be a BAD idea.
