That;s a tricky one.I also feed 3 feral cats and after 1yr the blind male finally let me pet him; and now he rubs and slaps my legs for more petting ,I got advantage flea ointment; so when i pet him; i put the flea ointment on him.He has ear mites and he won;t let me mess with his ears so i;m trying to find a way to get that in his ears,,,Good luck and thanks for caring for our feral friends,,,,,Shelly

If you can't touch her easily, it'll be a problem. In an extreme case you can live trap her and have the vet do it. But if you can con her into approaching by sitting on the porch step, say, and offering a brush to brush her, that action can get a cat to stay still for a certain amount of time, but you'll have to be all set to go with putting the drops on.
We de-flea our feral by side tracking him with either the pin brush or with a plate of shredded baked chicken. He wants to eat it so much he'll stay still a while, long enough to get the stuff on him.

"My feral cat" is an oxymoron. If she's feral (if she is a she?), she doesn't belong to anyone. Something even more useful to do than putting flea-guard on would be to trap her using a humane trap and bring her to get fixed. That would cut down on the problem of feral cats and how to help them.

This is for patti,
shivermetimbers has a feral cat which will probably mean it will not let anyone pet it never mind share a bubble bath with soft music and candles, sound delight full and idyllic though, i would love to spend at least an hour on your planet!

get Revolution or Advantage and have the tube open and ready to go, grab her with one hand and part the hair on the back of her neck and squeeze out the liquid flea medication. They don't like it, but you could do it very quickly if you pin the cat down. I have to do this with mine, but 30 seconds of trauma beats 30 days of scratching so I am sure they appreciate it in their own kitty way.

Have you tried revolution? You can hide it in her food. It will also protect her against heartworms (which she can get and cant get treated for) but it also somewhat takes care of fleas. you can always try working with her so she trusts you enough to allow you to pet her while she is eating, then you can apply the frontline or advantage.

my cat was a nightmare when trying to use spot on, so now i give her a tablet for fleas. just open her mouth put it to the back of the mouth, stroke the throat to encourage swallowing and have some food ready to eat. i do this in about 30 seconds.
well it works on my cat, you can see the fleas leap to their death. not easy to do spot on because she has long hair.

If you live in the UK you should be able to get at your local pet shop tablets called 4fleas. You just put them in the food. Have a look and see
http://www.johnsons-vet.com/facts/4fleas/
I'm not sure how much they are but I dont think they are very expensive. IF you dont live in the UK I'm not sure but you can probably get something similar.

I would use kitty shampoo and fill the bathtub up with warm water before putting her in it to bath. THen just use a container of warm water to rinse the soap off her and she will be flea free.
