Vitamin B3 (Niacin) is usually deficient in people who suffer from migraines - foods such as chicken, turkey and fish are rich in B3 and usually produce quick results in people who suffer from headaches and depression. Just a handfull of steamed chicken is usually enough to knock a severe headache on the head for me............. also get her to get a good quality multi B complex supplement including all the B's - B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12 - deficiencies in any of these vitamins will produce neural and immune deficiencies rather quickly so make sure she takes them each day as they are a water soluble vitamin.
Peppermint oil or lavender on a cotton ball and rubbed gently into the temples will also provide relief.
Peppermint /Chamomile tea is another good remedy.
GOOD LUCK

I am a current sufferer of migraines, I take Imitrex and it works 90% of the time. However prior to Imitrex being on the market I used to take (doctor prescribed) Benadryl and Compazine as an injection.
But we all know you can't always rush to the ER to get a shot. I have taken Benadryl Capsules (2) along with either Tylenol or Advil and gotten relieve. Unfortunatley you need a script for the Compazine or Phenagran.
Caution it knocks you out but when I have a migraine I want to sleep it off so that is a good thing for me. Hope this helps!

The toddlers of their playpen surrounded via toys - And Cartoons, books and toys for the beautiful a lot 18 month olds, which bypass frequently exceeded over via fact the lads hardship, and don't desire to play - Then have a lie down with my little boys sitting the two side of me patting my head, that's so candy.

Place an ice pack on the back of her neck and massage Vicks vapor rub into the temples, have her lay in a quiet darkened room for fifteen minutes. This can be repeated as often as needed.
purchase over the counter medications such as Advil liquid capsules to help with the pain.
if this continues have your mother see a medical doctor.

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

First of all why isnt she going to a dr for help instead of Yahoo??
Migranes can be caused by many different reaons.
One very overlooked reason is TMJ.
Simply put, TMJ is when people grind their theeth and dont realize it. Alot of people do it in their sleep. This causes bad headaches.
You can look up more about TMJ online. I suggest she goes to the dr.

Some migraines cannot be treated, though advances in medications are being developed. Has she seen a neurologist, a brain specialist? If her primary care clinician hasn't been able to help her then request a neurologist. One, a reputable one, may be able to help your poor mother.

Tell here to go see a massage therapist. I am a massage therapist and I help people all the time with relieving headaches. Tension in the muscles can cause headaches and migranes.
