lol i have tried but it really depends on the kitten.

buy a special leash (its actually more like a harness attached to a rope) designed only for kittens. let the kitten get used to the leash for a while by letting it roam free with it on (so it gets comfortable and is not threatened by the leash).

take it step by step. when the kitten feels comfortable with the leash take it outside and let it play. hold the leash and walk with the kitten. hopefully the kitten will walk by your side and, if you GENTLY tug, it will follow in your direction.

some cats/kittens however refuse to walk with a leash and will just sit on the ground. my cat did that, he was so fat and lazy and refused to get up. hated the leash and all.

good luck, hope you can get your kitten to do it! xxx

Get a harness, I've read that the figure 8 style works best and is safest. Put the harness on the cat and just try to get the cat used to it for a few days, then when the cat seems to accept it attach the leash and let her get used to that little bits at a time. If she takes to it, and some cats wont, only walk her in quiet, safe places where there isn't much traffic of any type. Keep her on a short leash so you can pick her up the moment any trouble should arise.

First you need to get a harness that fits well. Put it on your cat and let the cat get use to it in your home with you there as well. then take it off after 20 minutes or so. Do this for a few days then add a leash. Once your cat is use to it pick up the leash and walk around your house than take your cat to your back yard or close to home. once both you and your cat feel comfortable go for a short walk. This does take time and work, but all worth the result. All the best;~)

A figure H harness, not a figure 8 which they can squirm out of. Put the harness on in the house for half an hour, then attach a leash and let the cat drag that around under supervision for 10 minutes. Take it all off. Try again the second day, and then take the cat outside in harness and just sit there with him.

A cat won't walk WITH you like a dog, you'll likely have to slowly walk where he goes, to get anywhere. Except for Siamese, I've never seen a cat that would easily walk just on the sidewalks with their owner, they always want to go along the bushes or in different directions from where you want to.

Be patient. Be slow with moving. Get them used to it. Also be aware that a scared cat will panic very quickly on leash and try to leap and squirm out of the harness.

Any cat collar can be pulled off, don't figure a collar will be enough because you'll lose your cat.

Using a leash like you would do on a dog can collapse the cat’s larynx and kill it.

Try a harness. Introduce the harness to you cat and let it wear it around the house for a few minutes every day. At first your cat will merely flop on the floor a glare at you, but eventually it will start to ignore the harness.

When it starts to walk around freely introduce the lease. Try coaxing your kitty with treats to move forward. Using a clicker along with the treat rewards will get your kitty moving along, but you should anticipate 2-4 weeks to make any meaningful progress. Meaningful progress would be making it to the end of the driveway and back. Also understand your kitty will always want to run away from anything strange, kids, bikes cars, dogs

Perhaps your should consider a puppy-purse and carry your kitty that way. In the puppy purse she or she could see everything and learn to relish the attentions of you and your friends.

Loosen up on the leash and call the cat as you walk. You may have to persuade the cat with food or a toy or a string on a stick until the cat gets the idea. My cat used to follow me anyway so it was easy to get him leash trained. It is best to start by calling the cat as you walk away. But, I started training mine as a kitten.

You can try getting a special cat collar that is basically a harness that goes around their chest also. That way they cant pull out of it. It's like when you own a new puppy, they will complain and fight for a bit, but eventually they will learn to walk on a leash fine. You can also keep the harness on her all the time that way she gets used to that and it wont be quite as weird for her when shes on the leash.

practice.. while in the house.. wait until the cat is calm.. put the harness on.. then calm it down again.. put the leash on.. calm it down.. and just ease into it.. make sure the cat is not over hyper when trying to harness it.. eventually the cat will get used to it.. once you are comfortable with it in the house.. bring it outside with the harness and leash on.. (if it's never been outside.. hold it until it shows an interest in exploring) Everytime will get easier..

Use a harness, keep practicing in the house and when the kitten gets used to it take her for a walk outside...if she doesn't catch on you might have to wait till she is a little older.

Don't use a leash. A harness works best. Also you have to start when they are VERY young or they wont like it at all.
