Names are easy. Just go to any baby name site and you will find thousands. But what concerns me here is the subject. It is a very difficult and touchy one. Have you done your research? This is a topic that really must be handled very carefully if teenage girls are to read this. They will need accurate information and the truth. Otherwise, what you write could be very damaging and could lead to self injury and even death. I say this only because it is a subject I have dealt with a great deal. I have worked with kids who were cutters, attempted suicides, etc. To do such a book correctly, you need a very good source.

I write murder mysteries. But I would never write anything without checking it out with my team of consultants. I have a lawyer, a cop, a doctor, a forensics person, a munitions expert ... and more ... If I am not sure of something I ask before I write.

Please consider what I am telling you. The names are easy - especially since major depression now affects about 1 in 12 adolescents. In any given 6-month period, about 5 percent of 9- to 17-year-olds are estimated to be suffering from major depression. That's NINE year olds!!

I just hope you see the incredible responsibility in writing such a book. It is very important that you approach it that way. Lives could depend on it. As you can see, you have already gotten posts about 14 year olds who killed themselves. Please use extreme care. Pax - C

A good way to figure out a name is to use street names around where you live. That could be applied to other things too, I'm sure. Try it if you want.

Kaitlynn. That was a name of a 14 year old girl in my school who killed herself in a violent manner. That name reminds me of her and makes me depressed. If spelled that way it sounds more Gothic. Hope I helped.
