there's not much to these tests. You just lay on a table and a machine scans your body. You won't feel any pain. About the only problem you will have is if you get claustrophobic in small spaces with the MRI. Ask the surgeons office what you should expect during the test and maybe for a prescription of medication to relax you during the scans .

Sorry about your back problem Angel.
The CT scan is nothing but a more sofisticated X Ray, but you may have to drink something to help with the contrast sometimes.
The MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is the best of all. It subjects the person to a high magnetic field and record the movent of molecules under the field. From that they can build a great 3D image of everything inside the desired area.
If there is anything wrong, they will find it.
Both exams are completely painless and state of the art technology.
I wish you a speedy recovery.

They are both totally painless. Just a more intricate kind of x-ray. The only thing that may cause some pain is if they have to do a contrast CT. They put radioactive iodine in your vein, usually the arm. But if you've had blood taken, it feels the same, no big deal. They lay you on a table and it slides into this machine that takes pictures of your bones.
