You talk as though you were picking out a sweater or a toy. A parakeet is not an ornament for your room but a living being! Before you start worrying about your color preference you need to educate yourself about parakeets and how to care for them. Do you have the $$$ to properly care for a pet - and that includes vet visits. You also need to look at the personality of the bird - yes, they have personalities because they are living beings with wants, needs, and preferences. If all you are interested is something that resembles the outline of a bird in a particular color and requires no care, then get a picture of one and hang it in your room. If you truly want a parakeet, you will do it the right way and not on impulse.

Any color you find the most attractive. These days with budgies from pet shops there isn't any difference with temperament or pet potential as they are all mass bred. So get what you want.
And no, it's not a dumb question to ask. I think it shows you are thinking and that's great.
Just remember that should you want your budgie to be a pal to you it's better to have one. After your budgie has become a pal to you for a while you might be able to get another budgie and cage it by itself and then after the second budgie is your pal you can cage them together and they will have both each other and you.

Ive got 5. A Standard blue one, a white one with blue tip feathers, a pastel colored one, a yellow and green one and a true albino. Go buy personality if you can get it from a breeder or private petstore that will allow you to hold one. Try to get one that is hand raised hand fed with a lot of stripes on its head (more stripes the younger)Look for clear eyes, no drainage from the nose, no wet bottoms and really active

You would be better off, if you watched them and pick one by personality, rather than color. Just stand at the display cage and watch them for awhile, and pick the one, that looks to be having fun. You will have a loving pet.

Get a normal green one or a yellow. Color mutation parakeets die more easily.

oooo oooo go 2 a breeder and get a lilac!!!! you probably want to get a linonated one... they tend 2 be nicer.
if you have the moolah id get a handfed parrotlet.... i have one, and i love him, hes so cute! mine was 250, but i saw some that were only 85 in the newspaper that were handfed. Males also tend to be more talkitive and nicer, u should get a male pacific parrotlet!!!!
