a pimp is a guy who "owns" hookers. like a boss for them. tells them what to do and when to do it.

The original meaning of pimp is a person who runs a string of prostitutes. He or she is not a prostitute himself but rather provides protection for these girls and takes most of their income.
It is a derogatory term.
However, when used in the slang sense it has come to mean someone who dresses wildly or owns a wild car. It is not a term to use easily as you can really offend other people
