Ok, well as you can tell it's about my kitty. It was just born a few hours and it's an outside kitty. The mom won't touch. She sniffed it a few times but just left it in the middle of the ground. Is there a way I can get it to go get the kitten? It makes me cry when I see it because I love animals to death. The flys are all over it and the mom is just sitting there like 2 feet away starring at it. Is there a reason she isn't taking care of it? Is there a way I can get her to go take care of it? She had 4 altogether and takes care of 3 of them but not that one I told you about.

Mother cats and dogs can tell if there is something wrong with the babies, they tend to reject the ones they don't think are gonna make it anyway. If you want to try and hand nurse it your self you can go to any pet store or pet supply store and get a kitten bottle. They also make kitten formula, but it's expensive. You can also use powdered goats milk. Your other option is try to find someone who has a cat with a litter of kittens and see if you can get her to adopt this one, I've done both before and the baby survived.

Good luck and thanks for having such a big heart.

Like the previous answer told you, you will need to take care of it or it is going to die a slow painful death. How can you sit by and watch the flies on it and do nothing? You need to hurry and get some of the kitten formula and begin feeding it right away or it won't be strong enough to feed soon, and it may already be too late if the flies are already at it. Good luck!

If the mom is a new mom, this is quite common. Especially if she is young. Go get the kitten and bring it inside. Put it in a box with a heating pad underneath a blanket and set the heating pad on low. This will keep the kitten warm. Buy some KMR kitten milk or anything similar. Do not use any type of animal milk such as goat and cow milk. Prepare your supplies. Sterilize the kitten-sized baby bottles and nipples in a boiling water bath for about 5 minutes. Cool before using. Place a large towel, a rough-textured washcloth and a bowl of warm water on a table next to a comfortable chair. It should be 95° to 100° fahrenheit, or approximately body temperature. Test the nipple to ensure the flow is just right. Sit in the chair with the towel folded in your lap. Place the kitten prone (face down) on your lap. Make sure the kitten is warm before feeding. Feeding formula to a cold kitten can cause serious digestive problems. Without raising the kitten's head, place the nipple in his mouth. He should start nursing right away. If all goes well, let him continue nursing until finished. Do not overfeed.
If the kitten does not start nursing right away, or if he seems to have trouble getting the milk, check the nipple again. It should not drip milk when held upside down, but should drip given a small amount of pressure. It may also be helpful to stroke his head or gently pet his back to start his nursing reflexes, but once he gets the idea, he will nurse readily.
Much like human babies, kittens may need "burping" after nursing. This is best accomplished by holding one hand under his abdomen and gently patting his upper back. Not too hard - you don't want him to vomit. If he doesn't burp right away, go to step #6.
The mother cat will stimulate her kitten's elimination by licking his anus and genital area with her rough tongue. You can emulate this process with a warm, damp, rough washcloth or dampened paper towel. It may take a couple of feedings to see results, so don't despair if he doesn't defecate right away. Urinating may take a bit longer.
Your kitten will want to sleep after nursing, so put him back into his bed to let him sleep undisturbed.
Your newborn kitten will need approximately 32 cc (1.1 oz.) of formula a day, divided into 9 - 12 feedings a day, depending on his size and condition. Count on feeding him every two hours or so, around the clock, for starters. Yes, it's a demanding job, but intensely rewarding to watch your newborn develop and grow.

Make sure to reduce feedings as weeks go by. But not by too much. If the kitten is crying and seems hungry feed it more. After about 5 weeks, the kitten can possibly start eating solid foods, but start out with wet food. Also put down some fresh water and see if it will lap it. If it eats the food and laps the water, you can cease all bottle feedings. Good luck and thanks for being so sensitive!

It's good that you care, but the mother cat is probably rejecting it for a reason. It is extremely difficult to save a newborn kitten so don't blame yourself if it dies. Nature has a way of weeding out the weak ones and it 's not pretty, but sometimes it happens.

mom cats know when kittens are sick or lame and will leave them in a heartbeat, you might have to feed the baby with a syringe and some mama cat;s milk from petco as baby will starve and die fast without food.I have been around cats foe 20ys and have seen mom;s do this a lot; but usually the baby's are dead before nightfall...Good luck and i;m praying for the babies all of them and for you and yours to go thru this easily.....lots of luck....Shelly

There may be something wrong with the kitten. I don't know how but animal mom's seem to have a sixth sense when one of their litter is weaker than the rest and they usually will ignore it.

Yes, there could be something wrong with the kitten that is making mom reject it. If mom won't take care of it, then you have to or have it euthanized. You will have to feed it KMR every 2 hours, clean it, stimulate it to defacate and urinate, keep it warm, etc.

Damb get the kitten and breast feed her with a tit suckle or some thing. How dare you leave the kitten that god damb flies must surroud it.

This is not a answer but a command to save that baby cat.
Mine just got four last night and she rejected the kittens but I, that is a man constructed a plan that the kittens could suck on my own human nipple. It did not work ofcourse!

My mother constructed a plan to get the mother into a submissive position to force the kittens upon her. Dambit, it was crap. It did not work. All 4 was in definate death.

And then again we forced life into those damb kitten by squeesing and falling asleep with those cats. But the mother subdeud after a long tedious episode of looking after kittens. So make a plan sister!!
