I will have some invitations for my wedding/reception going out to out of town guests. Some may drive, some may fly. Where do I being the directions at? The airport? Or just do the directions for the church to the reception hall? I'm not sure what to do. Or do I take the guests address and do it that way? Or include both? ...I have no clue obviously. Thanks for all your help!

make a directions sheet from all major highways. most reception halls should provide them - you can look on the church/halls website and they may already list all the possibilities.

There are a few options to give your guests directions. First, I would print a direction card. This can be done with your invitations or you can do-it-yourself. The directions should be broad enough to encompass all of your guests. For example, the direction card should have from the east (starting with a major highway), from the west (starting for a major highway), the north and the south. Most airports will be off one of the major highways. You can get the directions off mapquest.
Also - try a wedding website and list travel information for your guests. You can include airlines that fly into the local airport, hotel accommodations (and reserve a room block here -negotiate a discount) and directions to the ceremony location and to the reception.
Either way your, if your ceremony location and reception location are different - you should include a direction card into your invitations for your guests.

I have had a small map of the area printed, with key points of interest on it. Show the airport, church, reception hall, key streets. You know how a tourist map looks points # and so they can look and see the easiest way to get there. If you know what hotels they will be staying at, you could include that. It was a big help to me, but took a lot of thought to get it down. That's where you put the whole team together to make this happen. Congradulations ,

just do the from the north, south, east, west starting at a major highway/inerstate that most people can get to. you can also include the address of the ceremony so they can get directions online from their home/airport. you really dont need to have directions from the ceremony to the reception since people can just follow someone who knows the way unless people will be coming to the reception that are unable to attend the ceremony.

for the ppl flying i would do them from the airport or their hotel and for the ppl driving; just directions to the church and reception. Put a phone # on them also in case there are any problems.

Use directions from your state capitol to your house. For instance, if you live in MA, use Boston. Mapquest is perfect for this task
