Am I hearing this correctly? I mean, what exactly does illegal mean? I thought it meant it was against the law, so if you break a law, isn't that a crime? Maybe I'be been mislead all my life, but I always thought doing something that is illegal is a crime.

And for elena d, you idiot. Misdemeanor and felony are two levels of a crime. It isn't a difference between a misdemeanor and a crime. A misdemeanor is a crime. Don't come at me saying if I'm an American I should know. Maybe you are an illegal immigrant since you don't seem to have a clue. No wonder our country is in shambles with morons like you walking the streets.

There was a recent court ruling where it was ruled that the act of crossing the border was indeed illegal, but, the person's continued presence in the US was not a crime....

Was he referring to that? I didn't see it....

He was just making a technical point, which he should have explained a lot better. An illegal immigrant is not put up on criminal changes and brought before a judge unless they committed something other than just crossing into the U.S. without the proper paperwork. If it was considered a crime, they would have to send them to prison or fine them before they were deported. Illegal is something that doesn't have legal backing. A crime is when you commit an act that violates someone else's rights. By itself illegal immigration is not a crime, but it is illegal.

Illegal immigration is a crime, but not in Giuliani's eyes. At least Glen Beck doesn't agree with him and probably a lot more people don't agree with him either. Still not sure who to vote for now. I want a President who will stand against terrorism, close all borders, against illegal immigration and so on. Is there someone like that who is running for president that can fight for the American people??

it extremely is probable through fact he remains for unlawful immigrants being deported as stated on the tip of the object. Mr. Gulianni on the different hand, stated that it is not a criminal offense which suggests that he isn't for deporting them the two (except he's stated that those days).

Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Hunter have the most conservative voting records on immigration.

Of these three, Ron Paul has the best chance of winning the Primary election.
Paul's campaign has almost 5 times as much money to spend as Tancredo.

The NAFTA Superhighway might be another significant threat to American borders.

yeah, its not about what is right or legal. Its about whats beneficial...to Rudy. Illegal immigration isnt a grey area. You can increase the amount of legal immigration, but get rid of illegal immigrants and make them wait in line just like everyone else. Its called equality. We are treating the illegal immigrants like they are better than everyone else. It would be like me cutting in line at McDonalds at lunchtime in DC. All the people waiting in line arent too happy about that. Its not fair.

staying in the country illegally is a civil offense, like speeding or jaywalking. If you dont commit any crimes, you wont get deported. So the people who are screaming for law enforcement...what is there to enforce?

Unauthorized border crossing is a misdemeanor offense.
