Well, I've tried Proactiv and Clearasil and Biore and Aveeno and all of them made my already dry skin even worse to the point where no moisturizer could fix it. Then after some recommendations, I got some Alba (no, not Jessica Alba) facial cleanser and moisturizer and also a Queen Helene mint julep masque and also (as weird as this may seem) I use a Dial gold bar and the combination has actually worked really well and it's also really cheap! And I mean like less than $10 for all that most likely

1st of all you have to decide are you reli gonna put effort into this and second of all do it eveyday.
in the morning have a steam bath (boil some water in a kettle put it in a basin or bowl , put a towel over your head and put your head the over the bowl of hot water *this opens up your pores and gets rid of the spots and blackheads (note that you must do this for more than 3 minutes , and that it might not show any signs of improvement the first two days) okay next dabb your face to get the heavy sweat off your face next get an alcholic drink *i use gin * and get a tissue put some of the drink in the tissue and rub the tissue all around the face * you may get a stinging sensation but that means its working*next of all get a fresh tissue and put some cool water on it rub it all around your face *this will close the pores*
do this first thing before you go to bed also
also drink atleast a glass of water a day , if you don't like it perhaps with your dinner
and i use these great tablets called tetralsyl they truly work : P good luck!

I've had the same thing and I've used AcneFree and it's like proactive but it didn't work that well and it's really uncomfortable to apply, so I started to use St. Ives again. This is the first product that I've used for acne and the only reason why I stopped is because I wanted to experiment with other products, but after trying all the others (acnefree, clean and clear, etc.) this was the only one that worked. It has different products for different faces. I got the one for oily skin and blemishes. It's at target and drugstores. Good Luck.

I tried EVERYTHING. I ultimately had to resort to taking Accutane. It's a prescription pill and it can be pretty expensive, but this is all that's helped me. Most people do one six month cycle, I had to do two six month cycles and am considering a third. I would do a lot of research and have a long talk with your dermatologist before deciding to go on it. And you absolutely under no circumstances can get pregnant while taking accutane or about a year after, if I remember correctly, or else your baby will come out looking like those creeps from the hills have eyes. Good luck, hon.

One of the latest treatments is laser for severe types of acne and operates by destroying the bacteria that cause acne. Lasers used in mild acne treatments like simple blackheads and whiteheads work on the serum producing glands to open up the follicle to release the serum trapped inside by heating the upper layer and reducing the size of the oil gland. This affects the upper portion of the skin, but without harming the deeper layers of the skin and able to heal without any problem.

I had tried using ProActive for my acne & it had left my face red & dry--i think this is due to the amount of alcohol in the product. So I stopped & went to Sephora & picked up one of their acne product called DDF. I've been using it for about a month now & I've seen a huge improvement! The acne kit cost about $30-40. You can always stop by their store to pick up a sample & see how you like it. Hope this helps!

My daughter had a pretty bad acne problem, we did do proactive for a while it helped ok. But after she got on the pill and started using clinque foaming face wash and the toner everyday it cleared up a lot. I use the clinque products also and have been very pleased with them.
