Anytime you have something playing where you can hear it, like the little scanner speaker, you can just send that sound to another location by connecting the wires from the scanner speaker to the computer speakers.

Here's the rub, though: the scanner doesn't put out enough power to make the computer's speakers sound very good. You need to run the sound through a power amplifier.

Does the scanner have a headphone output? Get a cord with two headphone-type plugs on either end, and plug the output of the scanner into your 'line in' input on the computer. Then go into your 'mixer panel' and turn on the line-in so you can hear it over the speakers. And there you are. You can even record it on the computer.

You might have to experiment with the volume control on the scanner. The 'line in' input expects a level of signal that's pretty low, and if it's louder than that it will distort. On the computer you control the volume with the computer's volume control, not the scanner's.

Im not sure what kind of police scanner you have, but you might be able to connect your scanner to your computer if the scanner has a 3.5mm plug. This plug would be where you plug in for your headphones. In this case, you would purchase a both end 3.5mm plug.

You would connect one end to your scanner (headphones) and the other to your computers (aux, input, or mic).

These cables are very inexpensive. Prices can range from $4.99 to over $12.99.

Good Luck
