These feelings can be normal. Alas, never fear, God would never leave you, never! You have lost touch with him, but he still holds his arms open wide. You may be learning the lesson of total reliance on God for your needs. Stop trying to fix things yourself and alone and reach out to God and ask for help. Tell him you are weak in faith right now and need his strength to make your faith more strong so that you can feel his presence again. Keep asking, he WILL answer. Keep praying from your heart and God will make himself know to you again. And yes, I have felt this same way at times. GOD DOES NOT LEAVE YOU!!

I remember going through the time of not feeling as close to God, not even feeling His presence. It was horrible, and lonely. I use to be so jealous of people saying that Jesus is active and speaking to them. I could not hear a thing. I did not even want to go to church. Your life will change, just be very patient. There is a reason that you do not feel His presence, even though it says that He is as close as your own breath. He also said He will never leave or forsake you. I am sure you are becoming a strong person in faith. You have to be using your faith, as your physical is not getting it. Don't worry you are not becoming athiest. If you can, try to reach out to those that are hurting. Volunteer somewhere to help someone, even in church. This will help you to use the love that God has placed within you, and then you will notice that you feel Him more and more. He hears your prayers and loves you very much. Don't quite praying, listen to Christian music too or Christian TV. You will be okay, God is on your side and working for your good.

I agree with delsydebothom. Sometimes God DOES withdrawal from us, so that we'll seek Him. And sometimes God allows radical events in our lives in order to bring us back to Him. However, God NEVER leaves us. He is ALWAYS with us whether we feel it or not.
"The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged."
~Deuteronomy 31:8 (New International Version)~
Do you have an accountability partner or mentor within your church that you trust? If not I'll definitely pray that you find one because it's always easier to go through times like these with another person than to go at them alone.
10 If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
~Ecclesiastes 4:10 (New International Version)~
I listed a link below under the "sources" area, to a story that I really think will help encourage you. It's the very last link (the 4th one) I provided. If you have any further questions or would just like encouragement, please feel free to e-mail me. Continue to have faith and trust that He's working in your life.
" For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
~Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version)~

I would just pray and know that God might be doing this for a reason. Don't become an athiest because you don't sound like you believe that way.
I've had these sorts of feelings before, but then after a while, they stop and my faith grows immensely.
Fear not, FOR I AM WITH YOU;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Sometimes we try too hard to rely on an emotional response to God and from God. Keep praying, stay in the Word, and spend time listening. God is there. Even when we don't see or feel His presence, He is there with His arms of love wrapped around us. Hang in there - I've been where you are now and moved ahead in faith. Not an easy concept.
"Be still and know that I am God" is what the Bible tells us.
God bless, I will pray as others will too, that your faith will be strengthen and your doubts removed.

You might want to make sure you were ever saved. I don't want to in any way make you doubt your faith if you think your sure though. I have felt this way a lot actually. Not until the last year or so have I gotten closer to God, and have really "felt" his pressence and how He helps me to get through things every day. Pray more, praying just naturaly doesn't feel right, thats what the devil wants you to feel. But the more you pray you won't feel like that so much. Just pray, do it all the time, I mean I pray about little tiny things, like "God I really don't want to do the dishes please help my attitude" Start praying more. ~God Bless

i think more people have those sort of feelings than is commonly admitted. did you read about mother teresa recently? since i'm an atheist, i can't really understand why you're worried by the prospect that you're becoming an atheist. it's not so bad over here in reality.
can i ask a serious question? why do you think it matters what you want to believe? will that somehow affect reality one way or another?

Those who say that God is there for them and God makes them feel this way and God this and God that ...are only preeching God because thay are really the ones that dont feel God truely and use them excuses that going to church makes them closer to God and this and that. Start to respect your father, yourself and those who love you and you will soon see how God will be there for you.

first of all u are definitely not beoming athiest...second of all u should try going to confession if you are catholic or do the equivilant in another faith, third, u should read the poem footprints, fourth, u should consider going to youth group at your church or one near you, and lastly, u just have to stick with it and pray as much as you can and pray for him to lead you in whatever you do...personally, i ask him to lead me with brick walls so i never stray...and i feel that most of the time it works...i would suggest reading Ephesians Chapter 5 in the bible and it will give you tips on how to begin your turn around to God...i hope i helped...good luck

The type of Christianity you are talking about is pretty new, maybe 30-40 years old. The old type (Bible type) is to live by faith not feelings. In the last generation people have become such "feeling" seekers that their lives are full of music, testimonies, hepped up preaching, (Benny Hinn stuff), dramma, etc just to create feelings. The Bible teaches us to walk by faith and trust in God, He will never leave you or forsake you, whether you feel it or not.
