Why not talk to the same doc that gave you the ativan about prescribing an antidepressant, or a different antidepressant, or the right bipolar meds if that's your illness? You are contemplating a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It's clouding your judgment. Go ask for the right type of help. You don't have anything to loose giving it a shot.

death is not the answer.
most people that try to take there life fail when they use drugs and most often they are worse off course they can have damaged other things in there body.
so if you think life is not worth living then don't do it with drugs as then you will find out what a bad life is.
go call a help line so that they can at lest give you trained help and support and that know your area so that they can help you find the right treatment to get you feeling better about things

Are you asking this question because you are considering ending your life?? If you feel so distraught that you think that this is your only option then, you need to seek medical attention ASAP. Each and every one of us, at some point in our lives, feel overwhelmed, stressed out,and depressed. Unfortunately, life is a journey that can be filled with peaks and valleys( ups and downs). Be strong !! Talk to loved ones or someone that you can confide in . But, since I'm not exactly certain as to what your question refers to, this is the only thing that I can guess at. Please, life is not always kind but, there is a light at the end of a tunnel so, seek advice and treatment. If this is not what your question intended, then please clarify what you are asking. I hope that this helps. Stay strong !! Ruth, RN.

Take it easy and read carefully, not necessarily all at once what Bernard-Love-God gave you as an answer and begin to follow them.
First of all have faith in God and don't do foolish things.

There is also the question what medication can I take that will help me with my depression so that I will no longer think these awful thoughts. If I talk to my doctor about how badly I am feeling, he/she can prescribe medication to help me with this.
There is also this alternative. Please try this.
