17) he is born again, no longer a sinner. he has left the lust of the world and is following Jesus
18)we are now united with God cause of what Jesus did for us.
19)God is part of Christ. bringing us back to Him through Christ. forgetting the sins we have done, and promising us that we are not separated from Him
20)we are messengers for Christ, as though God was pleading through us, praying that you will be together with God again. (Paul was probably saying he was a messenger for God asking the ppl to repent)
21)Jesus took on the worlds sin as if He was the guilty one so that we could be saved and with God. this is how i take these scriptures

The renewed man acts upon new principles, by new rules, with new ends, and in new company. The believer is created anew; his heart is not merely set right, but a new heart is given him. He is the workmanship of God, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Though the same as a man, he is changed in his character and conduct. These words must and do mean more than an outward reformation. The man who formerly saw no beauty in the Saviour that he should desire him, now loves him above all things. The heart of the unregenerate is filled with enmity against God, and God is justly offended with him. Yet there may be reconciliation. Our offended God has reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ. By the inspiration of God, the Scriptures were written, which are the word of reconciliation; showing that peace has been made by the cross, and how we may be interested therein. Though God cannot lose by the quarrel, nor gain by the peace, yet he beseeches sinners to lay aside their enmity, and accept the salvation he offers. Christ knew no sin. He was made Sin; not a sinner, but Sin, a Sin-offering, a Sacrifice for sin. The end and design of all this was, that we might be made the righteousness of God in him, might be justified freely by the grace of God through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Can any lose, labour, or suffer too much for Him, who gave his beloved Son to be the Sacrifice for their sins, that they might be made the righteousness of God in him?

I could tell you what those verses mean to me, but I think the real value of the bible is to discover the meanings for yourself. If you haven't done so already, read different translations of those passages...multiple perspectives/wording will give you information you need to seek the truth in the message. Try http://www.mydevotion.com ...search by verse to see the King James Version (KJV) and then click the links to read the other translations (e.g., NIV).
"The Message" is a modern "paraphrase" (not translation) of the bible. Perhaps reading the words used in that paraphrase will give you some inspiration to discover the meaning of those verses for yourself...
"(16-20) Because of this decision we don't evaluate people by what they have or how they look. We looked at the Messiah that way once and got it all wrong, as you know. We certainly don't look at him that way anymore. Now we look inside, and what we see is that anyone united with the Messiah gets a fresh start, is created new. The old life is gone; a new life burgeons! Look at it! All this comes from the God who settled the relationship between us and him, and then called us to settle our relationships with each other. God put the world square with himself through the Messiah, giving the world a fresh start by offering forgiveness of sins. God has given us the task of telling everyone what he is doing. We're Christ's representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God's work of making things right between them. We're speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he's already a friend with you.
(21) How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.

vs. 17 - Christians are brand new people on the inside. The Holy Spirit gives them new life, and they are not the same anymore. We are not reformed, rehabilited, or reeducated - we are re-created (new creations), living in vital union with Christ (Colossians 2:6-7). At conversion we are not simply turning over a new leaf; we are beginning a new life under a new Master.
vs. 18,19 - God brings us back to Himself (reconciles us) by blotting out our sins and making us righteous. We are no longer God's enemies, or stranger, or foreigners to Him, when we trust in Christ. Because we have been reconciled to God, we have the privilege of encouraging other to do the same, and thus we are those who have the "ministry of reconciliation."
vs. 20 - An ambassador is an official representative on behalf of one country to another. As believers, we are Christ's ambassadors, sent with His message of reconciliation to the world. An ambassador of reconciliation has an important responsibility. We dar not take this responsibility lightly.
vs. 21 - When we trust in Christ, we make an exchange - our sin for His righteousness. Our sin was poured into Christ at His crucifixion. His righteousness is poured into us at our conversion. This is what Christians mean by Christ's atonement for sin. In the world, bartering works only when two people exchange goods of relatively equal value. But God offers to trade His righteousness for our sin - something of immeasurable worth for something completely worthless. How greatful we should be for His kindness to us.

In order for anyone to be in Christ they must first repent and ask for forgiveness. You then become a new creature because your sins have been covered by His blood shed at Calvary. What sins we committed in the past are washed away and we walk in newness of life with Christ.
Reconciliation simply means that we are are restored to harmony with God and then through our witness we can lead others to reconciliation. Once we have repented our sins are no longer held (imputed) against us. As witnesses for Christ we need to continue to be in harmony with God. God made Christ to be our substitute for sin for us. Only then can we walk in righteousness and be the witness for Him as the Lord desires. It is our witness that will lead others to Christ.

It is talking about regeneration, Spiritual renewal, a new man, character transformed, the oneness of Christ with God, Remission of sins, and the Gospel as the way, that we are now God's messengers, and that you be reconciled, Jesus as the substitute, the sin bearer, and justification by faith.
Read the verses and look at what is above, you will see.

That if we have a relationship with Jesus our Lord and Savior we are like born again new. All our past sins are washed away and it's like we can start over fresh in Him. When Jesus died on the cross for us he reconciled all of our sins by his blood so that we could be forgiven by his father in Heaven.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 (Amplified Bible)
Amplified Bible (AMP)
17Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
18But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].
19It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
20So we are Christ's ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ's personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.
21For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [[a]endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness].

When we believe that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose again, we become born again, are a new person in Jesus, and the old sinful life has died and been buried. We are a new person in Jesus and have eternal life, and peace with God.

That's the mystery. You don't know how to love so to be able to love at all you have to be created again, born of Love. God is Love so now you're one of Gods Love Children.
People will try to say it's about proclaiming this or that but Jesus said those who love him keep his commandments and his command is to love one another so whether you believe or not if you love you've got it made.
