Unless you hope to win BIG,and the odds are very small, play small. Put $5.00 in, and if it hits anything over $10.00 cash out and keep the ticket in your pocket.
If it pays out really good--cash out. Then try another $5.00.
If you loose it---go to another machine..

My wife says I don't know how to gamble. Then I ask her, while we are going out the casino door "Yea, but who usually walks out with some money?"

None of those tips for finding 'hot' slot machines are ever true. Even if there is a casino that has slots by the door that pay out better than others, every casino designs their floor differently, so the place you happen to go might put their worst playing slots by the door because they get the most traffic.

The best tip a slot player can get is to always sign up for the rewards club. If you play at the same place long enough, you might earn a free buffet or free slot player or something else. Some friends of mine always stay at the Excalibur, and they haven't payed out of pocket for a hotel room in years.

If you're a video poker player, again, use a players card. Also, check to see if the casino gift shop sells optimum play cards. These are little credit card sized cards that tell you how to play hands for optimum payout. If you play video poker correctly, finding decent paying machines, and use your players card, you can actually give yourself an advantage when you factor in the dollar value of comps.

If you're playing blackjack, the quick and easy way to make a little bit of money is to use positive progressions. So say your first bet is $10. If you win, bet $15 next. If you win that, go up to $20, etc etc. When you reach about $35, either stay at a $35 bet or go back down to $10. If you lose at any point, go back down to $10. This does not provide any type of advantage, but if you hit a hot streak you can win a lot, and you're not risking much more than if you played the same bet every time.

Good luck and have fun!

First of all you need understand what sum of money you can lose without regrets.

Second, some casinos place slot machines with highest payback rates closer to the entrance or crowded areas to attract “fresh blood”.

Actually, before your trip to a real casino you should play free online slots. It will help you understand how it works and what kind of slot fits you the best.

Keep in mind, that slots work on RNG and thus are totally luck-based.

Set a limit that you can afford to lose when you reach it stop playing. Play what you like to play but don't hold out hopes of winning you're there for a good time so just enjoy it.
