Yes, the Marines change your mentality, that's the idea behind boot camp. If you're concerned about that aspect, meet some marines, and see if you like the way they think.

I'm not really "part" of the Marines yet, I'm only a candidate for OCS, soon and hopefully, and just being around Marines all the time etc...I totally have a different view already. Since you're a female too, they will totally change you but in a good way because they will break you down and make you a stronger women.

opposite to generic concept, the army certainly has extra efficient training. the army has a sixteen week OSUT for Infantry infantrymen that's extra heavily concentrated on wrestle training than the traditional BCT or maybe Marine IET. the army could additionally assure you Airborne college on your settlement that's are extra elite infantry units than the effortless Infantry, or you're able to be Air attack as a substitute. From there you're able to attend 8 weeks of RASP and Ranger college and be assigned to the seventy 5th Ranger Regiment. that are an extremely elite SOF. then you definately could pass from there. the army additionally has extra places you will possibly be stationed. As a Marine you're lots extra possibly to be stationed on a Naval vessel while no longer on a 6 month deployment. interior the army you're able to be stationed everywhere interior the international while no longer on a 9 month deployment, they simply replaced it from 12+ month deployments to 9+ month deployments yet nevertheless have the longest wrestle deployments. the army would not take purely any physique. that's a delusion. when I went in to my recruiter he he stated the main you are able to weigh at 5'10" is a hundred seventy five and that i weigh one hundred seventy with an excellent volume of muscle and a few fat. the army hasn't generic those with a GED for years and not applying a definite volume of school credit and a waiver that's a ***** to get. in case you substitute into obese interior the army they deduct pay, do no longer aid you pass on pass away, make you do PT virtually all day, do no longer aid you earnings rank, and that they heavily modify your eating habitual. the army spearheads virtually all significant operations.

Minivan Mama is right about that. As a woman you need to either go into the Navy, Coast Guard, or Air Force. Not the B.A.M.'s (Broad a**sed Marines) Thats what we called called the Women Marines.
And this is for Mark H, Your brother isn't an idiot unless he was in Force Recon, because there is only 2 things that fall out of the sky. That's idiots and bird crap.

I am a parent of a marine, yes in a lot of ways, It is not I or me it is we. You take pride in your self and it will show. nothing is impossible. Who you are personality wise stays the same. My son still is the comic he alway has been. When he is home since boot camp I ask him to do some thing and it is done.
The one thing about a marine they stick together for life. Generals from other countries will tell you that if your are in a group/meeting of people that were in one of the services the marine gravatate together were the other disperse after the meeting.

The Marine Corp is going to break down your personality and rebuild it. That is what basic training is all about.
The recruiter will say anything to get you to sign that contract, so take everything he says with a grain of salt.
Get your degree first. That way, if you do decide to sign up, you can go in as an officer.

Hmmm...
Well, my cousin's husband was in the Marines (He was injured and he got an honorable discharge), and he was terrible in highschool/early 20s, but then he joined the USMC, and he's a really great person now...
So I don't know if it's just because he matured, or if he changed because of him being in the USMC.

the Corps will change you. it's for the better. you will become more confident in yourself. the biggest difference is the discipline in every thing you do.and the respect for your peers. not everyone will respect you in the civilian society. most will though. finish college first. you will become a better person
