I love tattoo's and and I'm very interested in them, but I'm deathly afraid of shots and injections. The thought of that scares me, but, not tattoos. (The tattoo gun and syringe look different, maybe thats why.)
I always pass out after I get a blood test or shots or injections, and, I just cant handle it. Then again with a tattoo needle, it's not in one place too long, and its vibrating, I imagine the feeling is very different.
Are they anything alike? What is the closest feeling to getting a tattoo?
Thanks in advance!

I'm scared of shots also lol but i have 12 tattoos. I don;t think i could describe what a tattoo feels like but i can tell you it is nothing like a shot. A shot goes way under the skin a tattoo needle doesn't
Actually the other day i got a tattoo behind my right ear it really didn't hurt at all if you want your first tattoo to be somewhere that doesn't hurt i promise you i didn't hardly feel it.
When you find something you like go for it. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think :)

The closest feeling I can relate to when it comes to getting some ink is a bee sting and a sun burn. it starts off like a bee sting then becomes a little burny like a sun burn then you get a little numb. Tattoos do hurt but they aren't totally unbearable. It also depends where you get a tattoo and how big it is. A lot of tattoo artist are very knd when it comes to first timers and will try to make them as comfortable as possible. This is for a couple reasons, it makes it easier to do their job (which will result in a beautiful tattoo) and it makes it easier for you to endure whatever pain there maybe.

Tattoo's feel nothing like needles.
I just got my first tattoo down my ribs about an hour ago and what it felt like for me was a pin cutting through my skin.
The pain is bareable, I have a pretty high pain tolerance so I lasted the full 2 and a half hours but I suggest going for 2 sessions after your outline is done unless you think you can handle it.
It is very painful but definately worth it!
Good luck!!

No, tattoos are much shallower than shots are. It feels like a scratching/burning feeling (or at least it did to me), the thing that bothered me the most about the tattoo was the noise... The pain wasn't too bad, just the noise of the machine freaked me out a little.

No, getting tattooed is pretty different. The needles are so small that you probably won't even see them.
Everyone feels differently - some say it's like scratching, others say it's like a sunburn, others still say it's like getting rubbed really hard. There is no way to predict how you will react.
But I can say with certainty it's nothing like a shot.

shots and tattoos are very very different. i too get light headed and dizzy when i see or even think too hard about a shot or a hypodermic needle. as you can see i have quite a bit of tattoo work. tattoo needles look more like sewing needles... just longer and more of them. tattoos are definitely more painful than shots or having blood drawn but it is a different kind of pain and totally worth it when you get a great tattoo.
good luck!

the sensation feels like when you clentch your teeth and humm really loud. thats for the filling in with color. outlining or black in general hurts alittle more because they have to go alittle deeper into the skin. It feels like a constant cat scratch.I don't lie needles my self and I got two tattoos about six months apart and am considering a third. THe area the tattoo is on is a factor too...a really boney area like the top of your foot will hurt alittle more than an area where there is more meaty flesh, like your butt cheek. I have one on my right butt cheek, and one on my stomach just left of my bellybutton. neither of them really hurt. hope that helps.

I'd say its like little pricks with a needle over and over...it doesn't hurt too bad but it gets really old fast...like have you ever plucked your eyebrows? that is the best example i can give you...but you should definitly get one...be sure you think long and hard about what your going to get.....its going to be there forever. i got mine on my neck so if i have and interview i can wear my hair down to hide it because most people won't hire someone with visable tattoos

well i have three tattoos and it doesn't feel anything like getting a shot or injection, in my opinion it hurt, it feels like someone has a knife and is digging it back in forth through my skin, but everyone is different it hurts me but it may not hurt you
