Generally, it is not illegal at all. Some localities however have ordinances against it.

I think something is against privacy if you intrude, but leaving something at their door is the same as mailing them junk mail which companies do all of the time. However, if your community has some restrictions, doors are gated in and you are passing through the gates to get to them for example, then you probably shouldn't be doing it.

By the way, have you gotten any orders from this? You should consider how much the brochures are costing you. Avon is a direct sale product, or sold through party plan. The main reason why people buy is because of the relationship. I strongly recommend you knock on doors and introduce yourself. You may find out some people don't want the brochure, saving you money. And, you may meet some nice people who like you, then the odds of them buying just increased substantially because you knocked on their door. And, they may even agree to throw a party for you.

Give it a try. Good luck with your Avon business!

It's illegal to put it into mailboxes, but leaving them on tables, benches or the floor under the mail boxes is not.

A call to your City Clerk can clear it up for you, there may be some local ordinances that apply in your city. But for the most part, no it's not illegal.

I once had someone put a note on my car window, when I was parked on a side street, saying I didn't have the right to park there during the day. Some people are clueless about what actually is the law.

you can leave it rubberbanded to a door knob, assuming you have permission from the manager of the apartment complex. Yoiu cannot put them in mailboxes. That about covers it.
